How do I replace the belt for this model

Make sure vacuum is not plugged in to power outlet. Lay it upside down and remove 4 screws from bottom plate covering brush roll. Remove bottom plate and pull the brush roll out. Clean hair and debris from brush roll and make sure it spins freely. Remove end caps from brush roll if possible and clean debris out. Install new belt around motor shaft then insert brush roll into belt and pull on brush roll to give you enough leverage to stretch belt far enough to put. Brush roll back into position. Reinstall bottom plate and screws. Make sure brush roll will turn before turning vacuum back on. Belt will lose elasticity and should be replaced twice a year.

Why does my brush turn?

Most likely the belt that connects the motor to the brush has broken and needs to be replaced. A relatively easy fix.

The brush on my dyson vacuum won't turn, and the

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

A cloth belt got wrapped around the roll and after taking the roll off and getting the belt off of it, now the roll won't turn when I turn the vacuum on.

Install new belt. You'll have to remove the botton cover and the remove the brush cylinder and install new bell. What happen when the brush cylinder stop because of the colth belt, it stripped the rubber kogs off the belt. The only thing that turns on your Dyson is the motor. GB...stewbison

sounds like your brush roll is seized. Remove the brush roll (see picture) and make both of the end caps spin freely. If not, replace it and you should be set.

Brush Roll belt won't engage on WindTunnel self-propelled

When you had the brush roll off, did the ends turn freely? If not then the brush won't turn and the belt will just slip. You would have to replace the brush roll if either of the ends are frozen. Other then that you would have to remove the top cover to see if there any broken parts, there is a spring loaded asm, it has a black wheel that will push the V belt when it is in the carpet setting and the handle is in the down position, it could be jammed so the roller is stuck.

How to replace belt

Most Riccar's, turn vac over, take off the bottom plate, Brush roll and belt are there. Put new belt over motor shaft, then over brush roll, push brush roll back into place and re-install bottom plate.
