Why does my camera tell me my memory card is protected?

please take out memory card from camera, check on left side of memory card, there is Lock bar, slide it upward to unlock memory card protection and insert memory card in camera to solve this issue.

Look at the memory card itself. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked/protected", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). When this problem occur you need to set the memory card unlock or not protected. Remove the memory card from camera and you can see a small button in the memory card, so you need to slide that to set the memory card unlock or not protected.

Take your memory card out and look to see if you may have moved the sliding switch on the memory card, if you have move it back.

Your memory card has a little switch on the side of it called the Write Protect Switch. If it is in the Locked position, the camera will tell you the memory card is protected. Just take the memory card out and slide the switch to the unlocked position. You should be able to take pictuers now.
