Ps3 will not read any disc, BD, CD, or DVD. I was in the middle of a game and it stopped. I had to quit the game, and it ended up appearing to reboot the sysem - even turning off the controller.

Need to conect only controller i have for my ps3 and its a bd remote control how do i program this remote to my ps3

  • 1 Insert the two AA batteries into back of the DVD/BD remote.
  • 2 Power on your PlayStation 3 system manually. You can accomplish this by pressing the "PS" button in the middle of your wireless controller, or on the front of your PlayStation 3.
  • 3 Navigate to "Settings" on the PS3 home menu, referred to as the XMB.
  • 4 Scroll down the list of settings and select "Accessory Settings" by pressing "X" on your PS3 wireless controller.
  • 5 Select "Register BD Remote Control" by pressing the "X" on your PS3 controller.
  • 6 Follow the on-screen instructions that appear for registering your BD/DVD remote control. Once the remote is paired, you can control various multimedia applications on your system.

    PS3 not reading discs

    Many of you know the horrors that fall on the older generations of the ps3 20/40/60gs, mostly it is an issue with the blue ray drive where discs cannot be read.
    Signs of this are as follows the game cd icon doesn't appear in the game list when one is inserted, or if a disc is in the tray the spinning icon in the top right corner continues to "scan" for the disc. These are signs of either a bad drive and needs to be replaced or the disc drive tray is misaligned, but fear not sometimes the smallest fix does the job.
    I have the original 60g ps3 about half a year after my warrenty expired my blue ray drive decided to not read any form of disc be it dvd/cd/bd so i called sony they sent the coffin and i sent it back and when it arrived they had replaced the tray and parts of the drive to function again, so far so good discs reading again yay...not for long.
    About a month later it happened again i was angered thinking that i just paid 180 to fix it i didnt want to spend that money again so i found a solution that seemed to work and hasn't had any problems as of yet..(knock on wood) but this being about 1 yr later im happy. Basically i figured it could be a bad sector of my hdd that is preventing my drive from reading anything so i reformatted my system and then voila! reads discs again so instead of calling sony right away try and reformat the system to its factory settings may be a pain for some and ok for others that have a large enough usb stick or drive to back up to but it saves you the cash in the end hope this helped anyone with this problem

    There may be a number of issues that contribute to your game not loading, or freezing up when trying to play. Please try the following:

    1. Confirm the disc is clean. To clean a disc, use lint-free cleaning cloths made specifically for cleaning CD/DVD discs, sold at computer software stores. When cleaning the disc, we recommend starting from the innermost circle, and wiping out to the edge in a straight line.

    We do not recommend wiping in a circular motion, as it may create more scratches on the disc.

    **Note: Other materials, such as a paper towel or a T-shirt, may also scratch the disc. If there are any scratches, smudges, or fingerprints on the disc, it may not function properly. Also, do not use or insert any CD/DVD drive cleaners into the Playstation 3 as doing so may cause damage to the system.

    2. Confirm that you have updated the Playstation 3 computer entertainment system with the most recent system software . You can check the version you have installed on your Playstation 3 by selecting:

    * Settings.
    * Then System Settings.
    * Then System Information.

    3. Some Playstation or Playstation 2 format software titles may perform differently on the PS3 system. To identify the compatibility status1 of a specific title, please use the Backward Compatibility Status Search provided by Sony.
    http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus

    4. Try playing different CDs, DVDs, and games on the Playstation 3 console to see if the problem exists across multiple discs. Also try playing the disc on a different Playstation 3 console.

    5. Confirm that you are not using any game modification devices. Unlicensed devices such as game modification devices can interfere with the proper function of the software. We do not recommend the use of any game modification devices or unlicensed products.

    Turn off the BD 1080p 24Hz Output(HDMI) option. If the Blu-ray DiscTM does not support 1080p 24Hz video mode, the video output may not display properly. Go to [BD 1080p 24Hz Output(HDMI)] under [Settings] > [BD/DVD Settings] and select "Off".

    6. Confirm that the disc you want to play is supported by the PS3 system.

    The PS3 system will support the following media formats*:
    Media Formats Supported on the Playstation 3 console

    PLAYSTATION®3 format software with either region [1] or [ALL] a
    Playstation 2 format software (NTSC U/C standard) - (Not supported on the 40GB model)
    Playstation format software (NTSC U/C standard)
    Audio CDs, CD-R/-RW, Super Audio CDs b, c
    DVD Video with either region [1] or [ALL] a
    DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R/+RW a, c
    Blu-ray DiscTM (BD) containing video content with region code [A] e
    BD-ROM, BD-R, BD-RE c, d, e

    a - When outputting DVD content or Playstation 3 format software in SD resolution, only discs recorded in the NTSC standard can be played.
    b - Multi-channel Super Audio CD playback requires a multi-channel audio receiver with HDMI input.
    c - Playback only.
    d - Playback of BD-RE ver 1.0 discs is not supported.
    e - Copyright-protected Blu-ray video discs can only be output at 1080p using an HDMI cable connected to a device that is compatible with the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard.

    * The 40GB Playstation 3 model does not support SACD.

    My ps3 will play regular dvd discs but no games whats wrong?

    It's quite likely due to a weak Blu Ray laser. The DVD and BluRay are 2 different lasers so it could still be able to read and play DVD/CD but not the BluRay games.

    PS3 wont play blue ray or PS3 game discs

    Please check the region code on the BD or DVD. It should match the region code set in the system. Otherwise the disc will not play

    PS3 froze while playing a BD, then it would not rcognize anything

    Hi there,
    Most PS3 systems end up doing this due to an over heating of the laser lens. Let me explain: The laser lens in the PS3 is made to read mainly Blue Ray games. The movies need to be read faster than the game discs which causes it to work harder thus the problem arising.
    Sometimes, your lucky enough for this to only be a dirty lens problem due to rental movies which are most of the time, if not always, dirty.
    Have you tried a lens cleaner kit?
    This is the CD-ROM with a small brush on it to clean your laser lens head.
    This problem has happened to me in the past and this solved the problem.
    It is a common problem for any lens reading console.

    It wont show the start game option?

    Carefuly clean the middle section of your game disc using the soft cloth and insert the disc again. Laser lens can't read the disc if the middle section has fingerprints and etc. Remember when it comes to CD, DVD, BluRay discs all the record goes from the middle outwards.

    Ps3 wont read any game/dvd

    there is nothing you can do yourself. the ps3 BD drive is bad and needs to be replaced. your only choice is to replace the drive yourself or call sony.

    also are you able to play games from the hard drive? if so your BD drive is defective.
