Assuming the test print page prints using the black ink, printers have a setting that allows you to select black and white printing. If you need further help you need to include the manufacturer and brand of the printer. If the test page doesn't print the black ink and Since you say you have a full black ink cartridge I would also check that you completely removed the plastic tab/sticker that covered the hole the the inks comes out of and that the ink cartridge is securly installed.
Hi and welcome to fixya You can print black pages with the color cartage. HOW ? just when you select the size of the paper A4 then ther is an option of colored printing or black if you have ink in the color cartage then it can be done that you can print black pages with that cartage thanks hope that will be helpful
The Lexmark Impact S305 printer requires all the cartridges to have ink in them to continue printing - even if you're printing using black ink only. To print true black, you actually use some of the
color ink. Note: Leaving the color cartridge empty or dry isn't good
for the printer. It can lead to poor print quality if you want to print color
in the future.
You can only use the black ink cartridge without the color ink. But no need to replace them in your printer.
When you print just choose black and white for the printed text must be black not colored. But if you still received such notification...just try to replace the color ink cartridge to continue printing
Note:
As per my experience. printer with exclusive black ink alone will damage the printer easily due to unbalance printing of ink
There are two black inks in the printer so that when you are printing only black and white such as printing a fax or when you set print in B/W for printed matter, the printer will use the larger ink cartridge. When you are printing in the multicolor mode (most people don't know the difference) the printer will use the finer black ink in the smaller cartridge. This smaller cartridge is used for photo printing and multi-color page printing. You cannot mix the two blacks since the larger cartridge is a coarser ink.
If you are not after its printing quality then refill is an alternative. Also point to consider; is it almost at par with the original, availability in your location, replacement/repair or support, price vs original.
try running a selftest to determine that you are not having issues with the printer itself. make sure there no red light or onl;y green solid light shows on the panel then try reprinting,
