How can i tell if the lamp is bad. The t.v tries to come on but it never comes on. A red light flashes next to the bulb sign on the front panel

I have installed the new lamp and the the led power light comes on green and than turns flashing red. What is the next step in this repair?

my friend have a tech check your tv dont waste anytime your tv is having problems in the power circuit or in the Horizontal circuit or probably there is some cold solder in the power supply circuit.this should be checked out for repairs.good luck.

My television had two red lights flashing, one for Temp and the other for the lamp. I removed mythe lamp assembly and the bulb filament was burnt out. I order a new lamp and housing unit UX21517 and replaced it and now I have the red light flashing which is calling out the lamp again.

ok then, it sounds like it is trying to strike the lamp on some of these Sony projections it will keep trying to strike the lamp even though the bulb is no good. The lamp error detection may not be working correctly, there is a detector loop around the ballast and if it is not positioned correctly it cannot correctly detect a bad lamp. Try removing the lamp and see if it is physically damaged, if not it still may be bad and is the most common cause for a no error condition and no light problem.

My Sony lost its picture and had a flashing light. Unplugging for 36 hours solved the problem.

Replace the lamp ballast next.

You replaced lamp and still get flashing light.
1. TV's 'ballst may be bad.
2. If lamp comes on for 2-3 seconds, the problem will most likely be the caps in the power supply. (to see lamp turn on you have to take off back or front (inner panel).

you cant test the lamp the only way for sure to know is if the lamp exploded and you can tell that by looking down inside the lamp, yes there are other things like ballest and engine lamp, sony also has a recall on some of the sets, however all that info is at work so i don't know if this set is one of them, contact me on Monday and i can tell you more.

You really should give make & model number when posting, it helps us immensely, your lamp and possibly the ballast is bad, start with a new lamp first, odds are very good that it will fix your problem, can`t help more without manufacturer and model number, good luck, ps, order the original lamp, generics are junk and a waste of your money.

Turn on the set and let it shut down. push in the Menu and Device (or input, I don't have a schematic in front of me) buttons on the front of the set at the same time and hold until the green light starts flashing. Then release. There will be two different sets of flashes, such as, 3 and 6. The code 12 means the set is opperating fine. The other codes will tell you what part of the set needs repaired. Also, remove the bulb and check the ballast connection to the bulb. I find the connection for the bulb bent over when a customer replaces the lamp sometimes. Let me know what you find and we can go from there.
