HP Color LaserJet 8500dn - Error Code 54.2 Carousel Cycle Power is preventing me from printing. I recently changed the magenta toner and it clicked in normally, but the error code came up. The manual says to open the color toner clear door and look for an obstruction, I have and found nothing. It then says to power on and off, I have an no change. Any idea how to fix this problem?

Even thought the cartridge clicked in normally, there is a problem with it. If you still have the old one, put it back in, if the error clears, you know the new toner is no good. If the flap doesn't lift or is binding it will stop the carousel from spinning, a 54.00.02 is a cyan toner error. If you have another toner you can try that also. I know they aren't cheap, but a lot of refurbished toners can do this out of the box.

Testimonial: "The solution didn't work, but it was helpful to have another option. I didn't save the old one & yel-cyan are diferrent config so I ordered a magenta."

Correction in my previous post I stated a 54.00.02 is a cyan error , it is a yellow. But you are getting a 54.2 carousel error which is an obstruction. Like I previously said, remove the magenta toner you put in and try another.

Error # 54.2 for a hplj4550

There is a problem with the carousel assembly.
Either it isn't rotating or the sensor is bad.
Power cycle the printer and see if the error resets.
Open the color toner door and look for an obstruction.
I'm doing this from memory...there is a carousel brake release at the top right of the open toner cover.
It is a slot. If you use a paperclip to push down in that slot, it will release the brake.
Power off the printer.
With the brake released, rotate the carousel. It should move freely.
If you have to, remove the toner one at a time. One of the cartridges could be the problem.
Good luck

Not to sound like a smart aleck...do you have enough toner in it? Can you print a test page? Sounds like a toner issue to me.

Magenta lines on paper

You need to change the Magenta Toner. Rebuilt toners often have this kind of problems.

Hp 4600 no cyan printing

Firstoff, if you have tray 1 set to "any size" & "any type" they had problems with it going into calibration to frequently. If you upgrade the firmware this will take care of that. As for no Cyan, check the scanner interlock to insure it is opening the scanner cover. You could also go into diagnostics and disable cartridge check and swap the cartridges around, ie. cyan & magenta, run the print quality pages and see if the problem follows the cartridge. It could also be HV power supply.
