Try a little WD40 on the silver shaft the carrier slides on, if that dosen't do it lube the carrier motor under the case at the R. rear.
WD40 will work there also.

Typewriter is only typing the top half of each letter- changed ribbon- still doesn't type the bottom of the letters ???

typing the top half of each letter Donna, sounds like the carriage spool is stuck or out of adjustment. Not to hard, but pick up typewriter and slam it down on counter to see if it put carriage and spool back in position.
Good luck.

I've hit a wrong key and now it won't print what I am typing it just moves along the line

Just hit the mode key until TYPE, on the display, is highlighted. There are 3 modes, TYPE (where the machine functions like a normal typewriter), L/L (Where what you are typing shows up in the display and then prints when you hit the "RETURN" button. You can make corrections, in this mode, before you print the line, which saves using your correction tape.) and STORE (which is used to store memory information, such as format and phrases.)

Carriage return stuck on left side when powering on

The first thing to try is to lubricate the silver rail that the carriage rides on. A few drops of a light oil ( sewing machine oil ) may take care of the problem. Turn machine off, apply oil and move carriage by hand back and forth. Turn back on and see if this took care of it.

Typing Malfunction

Could be a forien object down in the machine. With the machine OFF you should be able to move the printhead easily by hand from one side to the other. If not, look in the machine and see if there is something physically stopping it.
