I have a Hitachi 43fwx20b. I started getting green wavy lines and the picture looked 3D. I did the Magic Focus and the manual convergence and neither solved the problem. I purchase the convergence kit and installed the new convergence chips. I also checked the resistors with my multimeter and they checked out OK. After re-installing the board I tried to do the magic focus again and the picture just shifts a little and the Magic Focus menu stays on the screen. I have tried it via the remote and the button on the set. I have tried holding down the button and pressing it twice. I have also tried the DCAM button on the board. Nothing gets me access to the Magic Focus or the DCAM menus. Before it would atleast go through the magic focus and I could access the DCAM. Any ideas?
Go back to the site where you bought the parts and ask them for help. Also, DCAM can be a bit tricky to get into on some models....
These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.
