Magenta doesn't print, replaced cartridge, updated driver, ran clean program, recalibrated, and HP has no more tech support for this model. It's a nice printer otherwise.

C7280 HP Printer. Both Magenta catridges wont print. ERROR states that they need to be replaced , but have been replaced several times and still have ink. Message also says print in blak only. click on...

I have been told that HP printers have a built in program that will make printer fail after a set number of pages have printed,
and if the NV Ram is reset this will reset the page count,
page count resides in the transparent, image or drum kit.
I dont know how to find this or reset page count but if anyone knows i would like to do this on my hp printer
please any help.

My 812 c only prints black and magenta. I put in a fresh color cartridge, ran it through alignment, prime, and clean functions and still only magenta prints

The cartridge may be defective, but before returning it, try cleaning the electrical contacts on the cartridge and the printer.
Use a q-tip and distilled or bottled water.
Do not touch the part of the cartridge where the ink comes out, just the electrical contacts (dots) on the cartridge, and the contact points in the printer that they connect to.
After cleaning the cartridge, put it back in. If you still only get one color, replace the cartridge.
If the replacement cartridge does the same thing, call HP tech support.
If the replacement works, call HP and get them to replace the defective cartridge.

The lt magenta and magenta just quit printing between pages

1. Check if the cartriges are correctly installed:
Installing the Ink Cartridges

2. Print a diagnostic page and clean print heads, using the printer cleaning utility:
Color Mix or Missing Colors on the Diagnostic Page
Repeat if needed.

3. If this still doesn´t solve you problem, try resetting the printer and manually cleaning the cartrigdes as advised in this FAQ:
Ink Cartridge is Missing, Incorrectly Installed, or Not Intended for Your Device' Error Message is Displayed on the Printer

I have a HP Photosmart C5180 printer. It is not printing purple-instead what comes out is blue. I have done a print test report and it showed the Light magenta and magenta with missing bars and streaks. I...

If your color improved slightly when running the printhead option then doing more should help get better results. Sometime the printheads get really dirty/clogged and running the cleaning option more then once is needed.

If you get a slight line running across the page (from left to right) usually the indicates dust build up on the printhead or ink carriage. The dust acts as a paint brush being dragged across your paper as the carriage moves across the page during printing. You can clean the bottom of the carriage with a Q-tip or purchase some cleaning paper for your printer.

HP 2600, magenta 2mm to left misaligned

Just had almost exactly the same issue - except the Magenta was printing 2mm below where it should have been.

Went through all the recalibration menus multiple times and the factory restore etc. Then wondered about the toner cartridge. If the problem is just with the Magenta, maybe this is where the issue lies. The printer had remanufactured toners in it - all the others were fine. Went and found a new HP original magenta toner - printer did its default recalibration on startup and the config test page came out like new. Put the old one back in and problem reappeared.

Strongly suggest you try another toner cartridge - as I suspect the chip is to blame in some way.

IP4300 only recognizes magenta OR cyan

1. Get compressed air
2. Run Printhead under HOT water, do not worry about contacts getting slightly wet.

3. Blow compressed air with straw attachment into screens where the cartridge nozzle sits on printhead. then let it sit and dry.

4. reinstall print test page

5. if this fails open paint/photoshop and print a page of the color that is not printing correctly. rinse and repeat until colors flow freely.

I have several ip4300s and I have yet to give up the ghost on a printer with a clog ujsing this method.

Magenta covers entire page

I had a similar problem. See: http://www.fixya.com/PostQuestionTx.aspx?prdid=378544&ctgid=0&thid=1044936&type=2
Are you your replacement cartridge orignial HP?
I also had your problem on my previous HP printer (don't remember the model #). And I had it cleaned a couple of times, replaced the magenta cartridge (but with remanufactured), and could not get rid of the magenta. I gave up and bought a new 2600n, but now I wonder if I had used original HP parts if the problem would have been solved.
