The rotator brush stopped turning. it turns fine by hand, nothing is stopping it. pushed reset button - button doesn't seem to do anything. Button loose???
sorry, but i did already know that about it not turning when in the upright position. i found a different post that suggested removing the hose where attaches to the vacuum. we did that and it seems to work fine now. maybe there is a loose sensor?

Try turning brush by hand and if it's stuck then it needs to be worked on. Could be bad bearings or jammed with dirt .Even carpet strings will stop it. If it turns by hand your belt could be stretched.
There should be a red insert on the right-hand side on the cylindrical bulge behind the brush cylinder. Check that this is moving when you push the button. The red insert should stay pushed in for the brush to rotate. The insert moves in an out as well as rotates in order to lock in the 'in' position. Mine is a little sticky on the rotation and I need to shake the brush head a little in order to get it to rotate and lock.
Check to see if the brush is frozen up. If you can not rotate it by hand you need to remove it and clean as best you can. Add a bit of WD40 at each end by the pieces that hold it onto the vacuum and turn by hand to be sure it is free.
When reassembling, make sure the belt is put on so that the brush turns in the proper direction.
Have you check for obstructions on the brush, especially towards both ends of the brush? Check for things like string, tinsel, etc. that can stop the brush from rotating. Check to see if you can turn the brush using your hand but don't force it if it is jammed. If its free of debris and turns with your hand then you have a more severe problem. I don't believe this unit has a belt but hopefully my prior tips will help. Good luck!
I would send it to protechrobotics. they will test all your components and let you know what needs to be done. if the repair is more than it's worth--they will help you out too.
Look for a missing belt that may have burned off or broken. Was there a burning smell at some point before the roller quit turning? If so, the belt must be replaced. I would also look at the ends of the roller to see if there is any string, hair, etc. that might be binding the roller that needs to be removed.
Not familiar with thi sbrand, but a reset is for when the brushes get jammed pr stalled, it will trip the reset. Make sure that the brsuh roll turns easily, also for a broken belt and/or bad brush roll. Some resets are for when the vac motor over heats, it will trip saving the motor. Usually this is for a jammed brush roll or a clog.
The brush bearings wear out on these things. I know I replaced mine twice before buying new carpet. I've had it for 10 years, You can order these parts on the Bissell website: http://www.bissell.com/Products/p/CleanView+Brush/product.aspx http://www.bissell.com/Products/ak/replacementparts/p/CVPT+II/product.aspx?%23=Detail#Detail http://www.bissell.com/images/UserGuides/35934_804.pdf
