you put a dvd in the dvd player and the dvd does not spin. it just keeps saying dvd loading

  • Anonymous Mar 25, 2008

Yes, same problem. DVD says loading but won't start DVD disc.

    Same problem.

When I try to move the laser head, it does not move. The white plastic spindle spins when I move it, but it does not change the position. Unplugging and replugging in does not seem to solve the problem.

Exactly the same issue, tried the fix, but did not seem to work. Found that switching it off for a day, can fix the problem, but anyone know of a perm fix..?

I too found the DVD had stopped working and stated invalid disc and the player would not load, I followed the instructions on moving the laser reader and it has reset itself with no problem.

Thanks for sending that fix in, it's much appreciated

With the tray out physically move little laser reader head to the right. Unplug the unit. and plug back in with the tray out. This will reset the head. Try a few times moving gently. It worked for me.

Toshiba Portable DVD will not spin upon start up

Hello,
If the disc does not spin it will cause the optical reader to not read the disc, which will give you the "no disc" or "invalid disc" error. If a disc will not spin, the most common cause of this is due to a spindle motor malfunction. The good news is that it can be fixed on average of between $70-90 dollars depending on what service repair technicians charge in your local area. You can fix the problem yourself if you have the patience and a bit of knowledge, but I can tell you from first hand experience it is a pain to do this.

The pictures below provide you an idea of what you are looking at.

Disk rotating and a message "invalid disk"

you can try manually cleaning the laser lens ( gently wipe , do not press down hard , it is suspended by fine wires ) using a q-tip and a drop of that cleaning solution you got with the laser lens disc. ( fluff another q-tip a little ) then dry wipe it with another q-tip and try a disc.
you can look at the laser lens and see if you see the laser come on also to determine if that is working ( do not look directly into the laser ! )
if the laser works but it still does not read discs after cleaning it manually , then there is a problem with the focus coil on the laser or the signal board is bad

Disk rotating and a message "invalid disk"

I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

If the unit is showing "invalid disk" on every disk that you try to play, unfortunately, the unit has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. Our warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. If you've had the player longer than 90 days, I regret to inform you it is out of warranty.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

"No Disk" message on front display

If when you insert the disk you hear a whirring and clicking noise, CD spins, and does not read, then that is a problem with the DVD lens.

The DVD lens try to focus on the DVD track, by moving lens pickup and spinning the disk, but cannot read the tracks because the lens is dirty or defective.

Try first cleaning the lens with a DVD cleaner disk. And also if you can see the lens from the outside try blowing some canned air on it.

If this still does not help, then the lens pickup may be faulty, in this case you often replace the whole DVD drive unit inside the DVD player.

I insert disk but it doesn't load. It says no disk.

The disc won't start spinning until the player senses the disc is there. If the lens on the laser inside that reads the disc is very dirty, it can cause this problem. You might try cleaning the lens with a cotton swab moistened with lens cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.

DVD PLAYER PROBLEM

Sounds like a common problem with this trutech brand. There are some possibilities. 1. Laser could be worn out, 2 it could be a bad cable coming from the laser. 3 The home switch for the laser to come all the way back to its "HOME" position could be bad. But usually if this is the case, the disc won't spin at all. And 4th, the spindle motor that spins the disc could be worn out. Causing the disc not to spin fast enough and thus causing an error. Let me know if you want to send me one of these anyone so as i can trouble shoot the problem further. Keep me posted and i hope this helps you out some. Thank you Jay
