SOURCE: I have frequent jamming of paper. I have learned

Welcome to Fixya

This is usually a paper jam problem when you see a pepr red light that is ON.

First take off the front cover. Pull the tabs on the side. Pull out the big toner and cartridge. Do you see the blue tab? Slide the tab from right to left 30 times. Pull out the black cartridge and check for a paper jam. Replace the cartridge and toner and reinsert into the printer. Turn the printer on and see if the light goes on.

If that doesnt work, open the back cover and pull down the black cover to see if there is any paperjam on the roller.

Turn off your printer. However you are connected, whether it be usb or other please unplug. Hold down the go button and turn the printer on. Keep the go button down the whole time. All led's should be lit. Release the go button. Let the printer do its thing for a second. Hit the go button 8 times exactly. This resets everything. Plug your usb or other back in.

If this still hasn't helped, try one last solution.

Open the back cover again and pull down the black cover. Do you see the little one inch tab holder in the middle. Keep an eye on your paper light and move it to the left and push it up to the roller, if that doesnt work move it to the right and then push it up. Keep an eye on the red paper button. fiddled and forced the tab to the left and you should see the green ready light go on.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Red "Paper" light stays on; printer will not print.

Paper light flashing could mean several things on this machine.

There could be a paper jam in the machine. Open the front cover remove the drum and toner and look in the machine. You can also check in between the drum and toner by removing the toner from the drum. Open the back cover and look for a Jam as well.

Try putting a piece of paper in the manual feed tray which is right above the paper tray, sometimes on certain documents the margins are too big and asks to go into the manual feed slot.

The red light is blinking and it doesn't print.

There are actually some certain meaning on the red light and green light showing different information to user. The summaries are:
1) Green On, Red Off = Printer Ready.
2) Green Fast-Flashing, Red Fast-Flashing = Printer warm up.
3) Green Fast-Flashing, Red Off = Printer off-line.
4) Green Slow-Flashing, Red Off = Processing Data.
5) Green Off, Red On = Cover Opened, Toner Empty or Developer Unit / Drum unit missing.
6) Green Off, Red Fast-Flashing = Paper Jam or waiting for jam reset.
7) Green Off, Red Slow-Flashing = Paper Empty or Paper tray is not inserted.
8) Green Off, Red Off = Printer power is off.
9) Green Very-Slow-Flashing, Red Off = Printer in sleep mode.
10) Green (any condition above), Red Slow-Flashing = Toner low or paper empty.

So what is your printer condition? Better know what is going on your printer so can solve the problem.

Red light is blinking. Do not know why. How do I

Hi,

Unfortunately, only way to see the error codes you have to get the printer to give you a green light so you can print out the configuration page. Far as the red light blinking, there could be a number of things it could be.

First, make sure the toner cart is installed correctly

- Check to make sure that there is paper in either the pull out for fold down tray.

- Check to make sure that there isn't a paper jam. Remove the toner cartridge and check to see if there is any paper stuck inside.

If you get the green light after checking those things, press both buttons down for about 2 seconds and release. On the configuration page there will be a set of numbers that indicate what the error codes are. If you can get me that information I can tell what they mean.
