Printers are a pain. Having said that, if there is a sensor claiming to have a paper jam, then it is one of 2 things: a piece of paper or debris that you dont see, or, a failed sensor. If you cannot clear the jam, you likely have a failed sensor. If you have a failed sensor, your easiest option is replace that printer. If you replace it with an identical model, you wont need to buy anything extra, you can use the same carts and plugs and discs as before. Check ebay or such places for your model. Someone may have one for you.

It keeps saying it si jamed when there is no paper in it.

there are sensors inside the machine. they track the paper along the route and scan to ensure paper has passed thru properly. If youre getting a stuck paper error, but there is no paper, you may need to get the machine replaced or serviced. It could be a faulty sensor, or, a sliver of paper jammed inside where you do not see, tripping the sensor.

Dell 1700N

We had a printer with the same problem, and turning the pickup wheels inside out (on the back of the paper tray) solved the problem.

Hope this helps.
