well first of all your only supposed to press it. dont hold down. i dont really know why, but i suppose if anything something having to do with the power cord. proud to be part of your help

This is the tray getting stuck on the PS2 shell/casing. I can fix mine as it does the same thing but I tap it one quick time after I hit the eject button and it will usually open. Don't try to pry the tray open or this will make the problem worse.

sounds like hardware fault.you need to get an expert to have a look at it try these guys they fix anything electrical
