This can be accomplished by using a network cable called a crossover cable (cat5 type). This cable is used to connect two computers together. With everything off just to be safe connect your computer to the PS 3 using the LAN ports on each. Start the computer and get online with the um150 then turn on the PS 3. In Windowsxp go to start, programs, accessories, communications,
network setup wizard.Run the wizard. Click next twice and in the third window that pops up you should see Pantech usb modem which is the um150 and local area connection 1 for your computer.
Mine is realtek Ethernet NIC yours may be different but look to see if you have an ethernet connection with NIC in the description. If the box says that a cable or cables are disconnected click the ignore disconnected radial button and click next. In this window choose the top radial button that says
this computer connects directly to the internet. Continue through
the wizard, you won't need printer sharing, and it should have automatically checked the correct connections to be bridged. What this does is bridge the um150 with your NIC through to the PS 3 by the cable. Click next and name your computer and network, you can leave the defaults if you want. Click next to set up the network. At the last window you don't want to set up any other computers so choose the radial button that says "just finish the wizard" should be the last one. The downside to this is that the um150 uses a different IP address every time you connect to the internet so you will have to go through this procedure each time you connect. Now go to the PS 3 and network settings and choose check for wired connection and it should connect.

Good news. cradlepoint Technology,www.cradlepoint.com, has available the PHS300 Personal hotspot router. Just plug the UM150 into the router and it creates a WiFi hotspot with a range of about 60 feet. I use it for my home network as the UM150 is the only broadband available to me. This works great for the Wii and PS3. It took about 20 minutes to set up including a small update for the router which may not be necessary anymore. The only downside to this is the router is about $150.

Enable internet connection sharing from your laptop after disabling DHCP on your router. Once you do that, your PS3 will grab an address from your laptop, rather than the router. Try connecting then....

How do u hook up ps3 online usin broadband card and laptop

Hi, The PS3 has a built in wireless card. You need a broadband internet connection& a wireless router for it to work this way.

What hardware do you have? You wont be able to connect the PS3 to the internet if you only have a laptop with a wireless broadband card. this is to be used for one PC/laptop at a time. Sorry

you could query this with Verizon though i am sure they would agree, that it is to be used for one PC/laptop to access the internet.

Thanks

I have an older computer that does not have a wireless card, but my internet is through a verizon um175 air card. i have gotten 10 different answers, and none work. 3 different answers from verizon alone...

Yes you can. Make sure that you disable DHCP in the lan settings section in the router. Use the computer without wireless card as the server, the router will be install in this computer. i have an air card with Sprint and I'm using Encore router and my Wii, and 3 more computer can connect without any problem.

Ps3 help

the ps3 has a built in wireless modem. if you do not have a router, you might not be able to connect your ps3 and laptop at the same time.

turn everything off.

now in this order, turn on your ps3 and connect to your wireless verizon modem after it comes back on. do not turn your laptop on, since your modem probably will not give out two dynamic addresses. does the ps3 work now?

Ps3 game

Hi there,

you will need to enable internet connection sharing. Some laptops have the ability to create a network.

The easiest way to do this is to create a wireless network, and have your ps3 join that network and essentially use the internet through your laptop.

Hope this helps,

Nathan.

Connecting my PS3 to the internet using a 3G Verizon Broadband

Unfortunately the PS3 will not be recieving internet through this device, the USB connectors are set up to only work with PC or MAC specifically for that reason that gamers cannot use their Xbox or Playstation, and that is because Verizon offers a Wireless router cell phone data device which costs almost a thousand dollars, definately not worth it.

Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U And PS3

I understand that you want to connect the PS3 using the Wireless card and NETGEAR card. Please note that the setup you have will not work for internet access. You can not configure the Air card to work with NETGEAR router. you need to have wih a broadband connection available for this router to connect to internet.

Once you have the router configured with Internet access then you may either connect the PS3 wired or wireless to the router, like you connect a desktop or laptop to the router.

Laptop with broadband internet and router. how to connect PS3?

This is what you have to do:
First, disconnected the router form the PS3.
Connect the router to the incoming cable and setup from the laptop using the setup wizard.
Once you have connected to the IPS then disconnect the router, connected the PS3, then the router.
You should be able to connect to the Internet.
If you have any question related to this router, please consult your router hand book, or repost your question or e-mail me at [email protected],
since this router has several feature, need to configure in order to secured the net work.

Connecting ps3 to internet

Your wireless router probably has a wep or wpa passcode that you will need to enter into your PS3.
