Printer Photosmart 8450. Using HP black cartridge. Received message saying the printer did not recognize the cartridge because it was not HP. Removed it and tried several times to print. Gave up and...

Regarding your HP94 black ink cartridge error problem and inability to print to your HP PS 8450 printer, this type of problem is probably an internal micro-electronic failure inside the HP94 ink cartridge.

To determine which cartridge is causing the issue and/or to confirm an electrical problem with one of the ink cartridges (or possibly both), perform both the Internal Self-Test page along with the Pen Electrical tests (diagnostics) to evaluate the electrical condition of both ink cartridges....

Please first verify the age of the ink cartridge(s)....look at imprinted date on front (or back) of ink cartridge. If this 'warranty expiration date' has expired, then potential cartridge failures can occur due to internal corrosion, etc.

A. Ensure BOTH carriage/flex cables and BOTH ink cartridge contacts are thoroughly clean before proceeding: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1519

B. Print Self-Test Page:
1. Press CANCEL and SAVE simultaneously (SAVE is the left-most button before POWER on/off.)
2. Using left/right arrow keys, navigate to 'pen electrical test'.
3. Select Enter to print test - evaluate nozzle test pattern.

-- If the printer prints the self test page then this demonstrates the printer is generally functional and that the problem is likely with one of the ink cartridges. Please note this is a 'forced' service test...the printer will attempt to print the test page whether the cartridges are good or bad. If the Self-Test page can be successfully printed but regular/normal printing cannot, then one of the ink cartridges is likely internally damaged. Remove and replace suspect cartridge to confirm.

C. Perform Cartridge Diagnostics tests using either C.1 or C.2 procedure below (varies by printer model):

C.1. Tap 41/43 Diagnostics Test:
1. To enter the Manufacturing Tests menu, press the 3 small, round buttons on the front panel simultaneously for >5secs: 'OK', 'CANCEL', & 'SELECT PHOTOS' (or 'Print Photos')
2. Using left/right arrow keys, navigate to Special Reports (or System Menu). Select Enter.
3. Navigate to 'print-mech button tap' menu.
4. Select Ok ('code = 0' will be displayed); click and hold Right Arrow until 'code = 41' (or attempt 'code = 43' if nothing prints using '41') is displayed.
5. Select Ok. Within one minute the Tap 41 (or 43) diagnostic test pattern should be initiated and print. Refer to video to help evaluate test pattern. Refer to 2nd video for guidance on how to read the diagnostic test pattern: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1741

NOTE 1: A good HP 93/95/97/99 color cartridge should display 600 good nozzles, while a good HP 92/94/96/98 black ink cartridge should show 672 good nozzles. If the results yield anything different then the ink cartridge is likely damaged and will need to be replaced. For reference only, refer to the following HP Deskjet video which shows how to read the HP 93-97 ink cartridge diagnostic test print: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1741 (see 2nd video)

C.2. Pen Electrical / Error Bypass Procedure:
1. To enter the Manufacturing Tests menu, press the 3 small, round buttons on the front panel simultaneously for >5secs: 'OK', 'CANCEL', & 'SELECT PHOTOS' (or 'Print Photos')
2. Using left/right arrow keys, navigate to Reports Menu (or System Menu). Select 'pen electrical test'.
3. Select Level 1, 2, or 3. Enter to print test - evaluate nozzle electrical test print.

NOTE 2: Pen recovery level 1, 2 or 3 clears cartridge errors, unblocking the printer to permit you to print the TEST PAGE with the normal MENU / TOOLS /PRINT TEST PAGE choice to aid in printer evaluation.

NOTE 3: Cartridge Error Bypass Message (Emergency Printing only): The Pen Recovery Level 1 clears cartridge errors and permits you to print the TEST PAGE with the normal MENU / TOOLS / PRINT TEST PAGE choice.

The black ink on my Brother DCP-130C won't print and it's a brand new ink cartridge. I thought it was a defected cartridge so I bought another one, same thing. The other 3 colours print ok though....

I have the same problem. Everything on the printer is working just fine. It'll do a test page just fine, so everything's working right. The %$^ thing just won't print. It makes noise like it's printing when you give it a print job, but it spits out blank pages.

I have Lexmark X125 and get message "Check Cartride" I put a new Black Cartride in and get message " None Changed" Printer won't print. What can I do?

What is the black cartridge version that you are using on your Lexmark X125 printer? If you are inserting a photo cartridge on your printer, please follow these steps: 1. Remove the black cartridge and insert the photo cartridge. The printer LCD screen will display CARTRIDGE? NONE CHANGED. 2. Press the Options button to select NEW RIGHT and then press Start. The printer LCD screen will now display RIGHT CARTRIDGE? 3. Use the Options button to select the STD PHOTO cartridge type and click Start. An Alignment page will then print. When the Alignment page is fully printed, the LCD screen will display CARTRIDGE ALIGN. 15 [00-30] A , where - 15 represents the straightest line on the page; - [00-30] is the value range you can select from, between 00 and 30 - A represents the line in each section. 4. Use the numbers on the keypad to select the number of the line you think is the straightest. As you press the number, the LCD will change to the next line automatically. Select the number representing the straightest line in each section.

2. Press the “Menu” button once.
3. The screen will display “Copy Menu: Copies”.
4. Press the left arrow button once. The screen will display “Copy Menu: Tools”.
5. Press the check button once. The screen with read “Tools: Maintenance”.

7. Press the right arrow button until the screen reads “Maintenance: Print Test Page”.
8. Press the check button once. This will start the Self-Test. Once the page has printed, the printer will stop. The test is not continuous.
}

If the printer has detected a "Cartridge Missing" error, then please follow the steps given below:

1. Turn the power OFF.
2. Open the front cover.
3. Turn the power back ON. The print cartridge carrier should move to the install position located in the middle of the printer. If it does not, close and reopen the cover:
4. Reseat both cartridges in the printer and check for the error.
5. If the error still displays, then remove the color print cartridge.
6. Close the cover.
7. If there is no error indicated by flashing lights, the color cartridge has short-circuited.
8. However, if you continue to get an error, repeat steps 1-3, and then go to step 9.
9. Remove the black print cartridge and reinsert the color cartridge.
10. If there is no error indicated by flashing lights, the black cartridge has short-circuited.
11. If you continue to receive an error in both cartridge scenarios, both print cartridges have short-circuited.

Printer message is 'remove and check cartridge'. have done that and put in new cartridges but message stays. can print a test page but it will not print anything else

I assume something has happened during a print job and you are seeing this message on the 6110's control panel display. Either there's a "clog" in the flow of ink or an issue with the electrical contacts between the cartridge and the print carriage. Unfortunately, HP.com doesn't list this error message on the web page for 6110 errors.

You can go to the following web page and follow the instructions to clean the electrical contacts I mentioned. The problem you are seeing can also be caused by an incorrectly installed ink cartridge or one where the protective tape strip was not removed before installation.

The latter is likely if you see this error message right after you've put in a new ink cartridge. It's easy to put the cartridge in incorrectly or not to correctly latch it in place. It's also really common to forget to take the tape off before installing the cartridge.

Lexmark x5470

A Right Cartridge Incorrect message generally indicates a communication error between the All-In-One and the cartridge. This can be caused by a faulty cartridge; however, it may be due to a simple interruption in the communication between the cartridge and the All-In-One.
The procedures below will help you to identify the cause of the error and resolve the issue.
Rebricking the All-In-One and Resetting the NVRAM
NOTE: The embedded links in the table lead to specific troubleshooting documents.

Step Action 1 Power off the All-In-One and remove the power brick from the back of the unit. Wait 20 seconds. Then reinsert the brick and power the unit back on.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to step 2.
No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.
2 Reset the NVRAM of the All-In-One
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to Checking the Cartridges.
No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.

Checking the Cartridges
NOTE: The embedded links in the table lead to specific troubleshooting documents.

Step Action 1 Open the top cover of the All-In-One. Remove both cartridges. Close the top cover. 2 Power off the All-In-One and remove the power supply brick from the back of the unit. 3 Reinsert the power supply brick into the back of the All-In-One and power the unit back on.
Does the error message reappear?
Yes: Skip to Contacting Lexmark. There is a hardware issue with your printer and you need to contact our technical support center.
No: Continue to step 4.
4 Clean the cartridge contacts (click here for instructions) and the AIO carrier contacts (click here for instructions). Continue to step 5.
5 Power the AIO on, reinsert the black/photo cartridge, and close the top cover. Power the All-In-One off and then back on.
Does the error message reappear?
Yes: Power the unit off and try step 5 with another black/photo cartridge. If the error persists with the new cartridge, proceed to Contacting Lexmark.
No: Continue to step 6.
6 Power the AIO on, reinsert the color cartridge, and close the top cover. Power the All-In-One off and then back on.

Does the error message reappear?

Check are cartridges firmly snapped into place and not empty. Use water to wash copper on cartridges if contacts are dirty.
