Power light shuts off after only 3 seconds

When i turn on my laptop, the green power button comes on for about 3 to 5 seconds, then shuts back off. Also, while the green power button is on, I cannot hear anything running inside my laptop.

Disconnect the AC adaptor from the laptop and remove the Battery pack from the Battery bay. Then, remove the RAM module and reinstall it after cleaning the RAM slot. Next, connect the AC adaptor to the laptop then try turning it ON. Please make sure that the AC adaptor is connected to a functional wall outlet. If the laptop still doesn't turn ON then you may try cleaning the Battery bay and the metal contacts in the battery compartment then insert the battery and try turning ON the laptop. If the laptop still doesn't turn ON then the issue is with the power supply unit.

No monitor/screen, but turned on. Light signifying the laptop is on - on green.

Try this:

1. Turn off the laptop by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or until the power light goes off.
2. Pull the battery out of the laptop and disconnect the power from it.
3. Hold the power button in for 20 seconds.
4. Plug the laptop back in, and put the batter back in it.
5. Now try to turn the laptop back on.

If this does not work, let me know.

Screen went black. Shut t.v. off and tried to turn it back on. Power comes on, front light is green, and in about 3 seconds the t.v. shuts off, green light goes off. Was playing dvd at the time. Shut off...

MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ONFOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device" and "menu"buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protectthe Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergenceIC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES ANDTHEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOUHAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and twoblinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix. SD TECH

My hp notebook just shut off, wont come back on

Sounds like a burnt out capacitor. Either on motherboard or power supply.
You can try taking out battery, press and hold power button for 5 seconds, put back in and try to turn on. If it doesn't turn on, then I'm afraid motherboard is bad or memory card is faulty

Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook will not power on

disconnect the battery from the laptop and only hook up the ac adaptor. Turn the laptop on and if it still cuts off after 5 seconds then reseat the memory back into its slots. Also make sure your air vents are not clogged with dirt or dust as lack or air flow can cause the laptop to shut off. If that doesn't do it then take out the hard drive and dvd drive and turn on the laptop. If the laptop still cuts off then it has to be a faulty motherboard at that point which means to much voltage is going thru and the components on the motherboard are not regulating it properly.

Shut off and won't come back. It's like it is dead.

follow this procedure:
1. unplug the ac adapter and keep it unplugged.
2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.
3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds(Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up)
4. Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY. (A power indicator light should be lit on the ac adapter when it is plugged in)
5. Normally power on the notebook.
6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.
7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up. If the battery indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be replaced.

Lcd monitor power light flashing with no img. seems 2 be frozen

The display is in safe mode and you will need to reset the display to get the display out of the safe mode. There are 2 different model revisions. Please choose the method that will match your revision. Depending on the revision of the monitor, one of the following 2 methods should reset it to a normal state. This reset generally requires both hands and it is sometimes easier with another person.

If the serial number begins with an A and/or your power button on the far right (5th button from left):
Method #1
1. Unplug the VGA cable.
2. Remove the power cable from the back of the monitor.
3. Counting the buttons on the front of the panel from left to right as 1 – 5, hold the buttons 2 and 3 down at the same time (see picture above) and while continuing to hold the buttons, plug the power cable back in.
4. Keep holding the buttons for 5 seconds after the power has been plugged in and then let go. The green light should be steady when you release the buttons.
5. If the procedure worked, the green light will go to amber and you should see a "No Signal" message on the screen for a few seconds.
Method #2
4. Keep holding the buttons until the 4th green LED blink; then, let go. The green light should be steady when you release the buttons.
5. If the procedure worked, the green light will go to amber and you should see a "No Signal" message on the screen for a few seconds.

If the serial number begins with a B and/or your power button is in the middle (3rd button from left):
Method #1
1. Unplug the VGA cable.
2. Remove the power cable from the back of the monitor.
3. Counting the buttons on the front of the panel from left to right as 1 – 5, hold the buttons 2 and 4 down at the same time (see attached picture) and while continuing to hold the buttons, plug the power cable back in.4. Keep holding the buttons for 5 seconds after the power has been plugged in and then let go. The green light should be steady when you release the buttons.
5. If the procedure worked, the green light will go to amber and you should see a "No Signal" message on the screen for a few seconds.

Method #2
1. Unplug the VGA cable.
2. Remove the power cable from the back of the monitor.
3. Counting the buttons on the front of the panel from left to right as 1 – 5, hold the buttons 2 and 4 down at the same time (see picture above) and while continuing to hold the buttons, plug the power cable back in.
4. Keep holding the buttons until the 4th green LED blink; then, let go. The green light should be steady when you release the buttons.
5. If the procedure worked, the green light will go to amber and you should see a "No Signal" message on the screen for a few seconds.
