Hello, how long does it take to shut down? If you a chance to check and have a diagnosis (I attached a link) it would be much easier to fix it; The other option would be to visit the dell store or a reliable mechanic to make some measurements of the different elements. I exhort you to watch a video so you can have an idea and know the proportions of this problem and if you have no knowledge of electronics it's better that you don't do it, please.

Hello Maher Abu-Hijleh, I can provide a possible solution, recently I had a laptop from a friend with a similar problem and we had to reinstall the operating system again, but it doesn't have to be your case that requires it too, hopefully not.

Hello, Brad has right, but I think solution # 2 offered by this instructive video gives you the solution.

Hello, this happens regularly because of driver problems, Microsoft recommends caution and is not responsible for any damage or consequence for modifying the registry and you can make changes that are effective in most cases.
1) It does not mean that they are defective, maybe it is to configure them correctly; I also leave a video as another option.
2) I enclose the link below, any questions, please contact us.

Hello Ragonbr, ( maybe you are right about some damage inside ) all the indications that you refer are mechanical problems, so it's difficult to have an accurate diagnosis without reviewing the equipment and making some measurements; The least worrying is the short battery life, but the other problems as I told you to require other physical analysis.

Hello Alex, from this moment we must review several aspects, for example:
- Airplane mode
-Switched Wifi Mode
-Review the drivers if they are updated.
I send you a video that can help you in the process.

Hello, it would be good to know if the Laptop has valid its guarantee and on the other hand if it receives battery charge, without making some measurements it's difficult to give an accurate diagnosis; it's possible that it's an element of the board (circuit) it's necessary to measure the voltage and other components to determine if there is a problem with the voltage delivered by the charger.
We can perform a battery reset to check and have an idea.

It shouldn't be a driver issue. DVD drives are natively supported by XP. What software do you have installed for playing DVD'? Windows Media Player 11 would be excellent, and it's free from Microsoft. PowerDVD and WinDVD are also good, but you have to buy them.

Hello, I can appreciate that it is a mechanical problem, you should check different physical components (please, if you do not know about it you should go to a mechanic) is not a simple problem, it may be necessary to replace some accessories, but ( if you wanna try at least the battery reset ) you can do some tests to have a little idea, I attach a video about it; I also attach an example of these errors-light signals (it does not matter if it refers to another model).

The problem might be arising out of an issue with the Wireless services or the network drivers on your machine.
Please follow the below steps:
Windows 7:
1) Click Start> Type in 'Services' and click on the services option.
2) Within the Services window, scroll down to the bottom and look for 'WLAN Auto configuration'. Right click on the option and click on Restart if its already started or click on Start if its not.
Check if wifi is enabled and if you are able to connect now.
If the above steps do not work, please try the below steps:
1) Click Start> Type in 'Device manager' and click on it.
2) Expand Network adapters within device manager.
3) Look for an adapter which has the word 'wireless' in it.
4) Right click on the adapter and click on uninstall. If you get a window to confirm, click yes( make sure you do not choose the option: " Delete the driver software for this device".)
5) Now, click on Action on Device Manager and select ' Scan for Hardware changes'.
heck if wifi is enabled and if you are able to connect now.

Windows 8: If you have windows 8, Click 'Windows' key and 'W' on your keyboard and search for the same options as mentioned above.
Hope your wifi issue gets resolved!

the batteries eventually wear out and quit taking a charge. You can run the system without a battery with no ill effects. replacements are about $100 for a new battery
