SOURCE: not cooling

Sometimes when the evaporator fan goes out, it takes part of the motherboard also. (part number WR55X10552, which also subs into a WR55X10656) If this is the case, I would not expect the refrig to be running either. (If your compressor still runs, check door switch.)

SOURCE: GE fridge runs continuousely

Simple! The replacement fan ran the wrong way forcing air circulation the wrong way. Fortunately it was possible to reverse the moter shaft.

SOURCE: Compressor & Evap. Fan both work for 12 hours then evap stops

I believe that because defrost is done by the mother control board this is why this is happening the part of the board that controls defrost is malfunctioning and the only way to resolve the problem is to replace the mother board part number WR55X10656 You can find the replacement board at these places below. Why does my evaporator fan for my delfield refrigerator not shutting off

The thermostat operated the fan when the compressor is running. To test it turn the temp to zero or off. If it stops the thermostat is ok.

Evaporator coil freezing, replaced main control

It is possible you have a defective fan motor in the condenser area or evaporator area. Sometimes when they become defective they will run for a while and just warm up and stop while the compressor continues to run. I learned that one on four costly returns to the home. The cost was to me not the customer. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Food and water freezes but ice cream is soft

Check the door gasket seal.
Open the door for a few seconds and then close.
Immediately open the door again, and, if sealing properly, it should take more pulling force to open the door.

GE SIde By Side - No cold air on the freezer side.

Do you hear fan running in freezer? Should be on when you hear that external fan. If not, you may need an evaporator fan motor. Also check board in back for burned resistor. May need to replace both.
If that fan IS running, remove lower rear wall of freezer and inspect the defrost heater. It's at bottom of coils. It has a wire leading to both sides. Remove with 2 screws and check for continuity. If open replace defrost heater. This is a common failure on these.
