SOURCE: red timer light flashes but
hay chap i have a front projector mad by the same company . u have probably owned this awile now and noticed its dimming a bit but still watchable . these sets are a pain cause even thought the bulb is good it will give u the red light of death . this means the computer in your tv is saying its time to change the bulb . mines doing the same . i know it sounds stupid and trust me it is but thats what it sounds like . what i have been planning to do to mine is pull the bulb out and put it back in to see if it resets the timer on ther computer for the bulb life . i could be wrong friend but thats what i would have to figure it to be . let me know if i was any help.

SOURCE: flashing light tv will not turn on after power
The light is flashing in a pattern. Count the flashes and contact a Mitsubishi Service center with the count. They should be able to say what's wrong. This will not be user serviceable.

A constantly blinking light means shutdown.
The most common issue in this model is convergence-----if the convergence circuit has railed (this means shorted parts) it can cause the set to do what you describe.
Before I suggest a course of action----what is your skill level with electronic repairs? Can you solder and or do a visual inspection?
