I would like to tell you, IE8 is in Testing phase and so it is better to uninstall it.

Ok , you can try 3 things.
Reset IE

  1. Click on Start >Run and type inetcpl.cpl (it will open Internet Options) Need to go to Advanced Tab and reset it.
  2. Other thing is that can uninstall IE8 using this command .
Uninstall IE
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type %windir%\ie8\spuninst\spuninst.exe, and then click OK.
  3. Follow the wizard instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer8
Or can run a utility which is on the following link.

Try to uninstall IE from add or remove programs from the control panel. If its not working try to use revo uninstaller to uninstall.
Then install the latest version of IE and check

Keep getting mshtml.dll and internet explorer closes

This can be easily fixed. I don't want to mention the cause of this problem, it would add another load to your mind which will make you more confused.
Simply uninstall or just reinstall it with the latest internet explorer Version. You can download Internet Explorer 8 from this link (click here to open the download page). Download it and install it. Alternatively you can run Windows Update from the control panel. Even if installing the latest version doesn't fix this, you need to run a registry cleaning using a registry cleaner.

Please let me know after you are done. if it's not successful, I'll assist you how to run a registry cleaning.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Internet Explorer is erratic. more info, 2 days ago a automatic down load came through. I let it install Internet Explorer 8 and a .net program. Internet Explorer became very erratic when called it would...

Do you have addons in your IE browser, if so right click on the IE Icon and click start in NO ADDON MODE and see if the behavior stops.
also, the .net framework can cause issues you may want to reinstall the .net 3 update individually and see if your IE settles down.
There are so many things that can cause problems in IE. especially when you update it, seems everytime there are problems.

After installing Internet Explorer 8.0, I now can't get my hpscanjet 8250 to function. Coincendence or a direct cause? Thanks Harold Dietz

Uninstall IE 8 and reinstall IE 7, even if it reverts back to IE 7 when IE 8 is uninstalled.

So far there is no patch or other solution from HP.

I am having the same problem with an HP Scanjet 2300c. It's a low-end scanner, I know; but it worked just fine until I installed IE 8. Neither Microsoft nor HP have anything about the problem on their Web sites--nothing that I've found, anyway. That leaves only this solution.

Oh. You'll have similar problems if you're running Windows XP and install Service Pack 3. If you install both SP3 AND IE 8, the problems are compounded. Stay with Service Pack 2 and IE 7 until Microsoft and HP can get their stuff together and decide to resolve the problems--whenever they have nothing better to do, that is. They'll take their sweet time about it. That's one thing you can count on with HP and Microsoft. Money comes first, customer satisfaction comes in at number 6 or 7. Maybe it's number 8, I forget...

Added ie 8 beta, uninstalled, ie will not start

basically your ie8 uninstallation is bad...try and see if you can get an ie8 uninstallation toolkit at microsoft.com to uninstall ie8 properly. Else, you might have to reinstall ie7 after uninstalling ie8.. this same problem persisted when micorosft released ie7 and i was supporting ie7 when released. so take my word. happens with all ie beta versions..
