There is a plastic cap stuck in the tube that dispenses the detergent, I have removed the actual dispenser but it has fallen down in the hole under the dispenser and I am unable to reach it.

SOURCE: I've had an Amana Washer model ALW880QAW for about

I couldn't wait for a rely on my posted question on March 6,2009. I was able to ask around to figure out how to clean this up. This Amana washer model has an agitator that is just clipped on. I just got my fingers underneath the agitator and pulled it off. After getting the agitator off, I was able to clean all of the old built up detergent and fabric softner with some old fashion scrubbing. Then I used some CLR to get what ever I missed. I pushed the agitator back until it clicked back into place and ran one washing cylce to clean things up.....Works great....No more old clumpy stuff showing up in the wash....

The cap from laundry detergent fell in soap dispenser and is causing water to pour out of dispenser

It sounds like it is at the bottom of the hose where it enters the drum.

First get one of these and see if you can grab it by removing the detergent drawer and reaching down the hole and grabbing the edge of the cap. From the parts schematic part 310 has some bends in it, so that can be a blessing or a curse.

https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/5194zgl217-000583/kenmore-elite-79641722010-washer-parts

Or tip the machine backwards against the wall and remove the hose from the drawer where it enters the drum, although this one seems to be at the top, so remove the rear console and remove the top.

If it really is inside the drum between the drum and outer drum, that requires a full strip down, but the fact you said water pours out of the dispenser drawer leads me to believe it is the pipe.

Water does not drain from dispenser into tub/drum fast enough

pull out the dispenser, check inside where the dispenser goes into,i found in two washers the white circle piece that's inside the cap to detergent, when water would go in the cap would block the fill tube,if you checked the dispenser and water flows through you have something blocking the fill tube, hopefully the washer and dryer are not stacked, you might have to take the top lid off to get at the fill tube or fill hose to clear it.good luck with your washer

Leaves detergent in despencer tray

Most of the time this is a dispenser housing issue. Remove the dispenser tray from washer and make sure it is cleaned very well. In the more serious clogs, you may need to clean the hose from the dispenser to the drum.
  1. Make sure the detergent dispenser drawer is opening. This issue occurs due to jammed soap dispenser. Dispenser Distribution System is located in the top left corner of the washer. The system consists of a motor that turns a cam gear. The Detergent Dispenser Assembly is located under the washer top. Begin by removing the washer top, console and front panel.
  2. Separate the water inlet and window washer tube from the boot. Pull the water inlet tube from the outlet connector of the detergent dispenser. NOTE: When reinstalling the water inlet tube, wet the water inlet gasket on the detergent dispenser with water only. Do not use any other lubricant. Align the tab on the water inlet tube with the indentation on the dispenser connector and slide the tube onto the detergent dispenser assembly.
  3. Remove the screw securing the front of the detergent dispenser assembly to the top front frame member.
  4. Disconnect the vent tube from the detergent dispenser assembly. Remove the screw securing the detergent dispenser assembly to the top left frame member. Slide the assembly back slightly and lift the assembly out.
  5. To remove the detergent dispenser motor assembly, disconnect the cam follower spring and lift the cam follower from the diverter cam and rotate the diverter cam clockwise to access the motor mounting screws. Check for all the connections to the dispenser motor or anything obstructing the dispenser drawer functioning.
  6. Pull the diverter out and clean it, including the shaft, spring, etc.

I have a Whirlpool Duet and the water is over flowing from the soap drawer. I have already cleaned out the soap drawer and tried flushing the opening that leads into the machine with a hose. Any other...

This is inevitably caused by a blockage. The small fabric conditioner compartment in the soap dispenser drawer has a removable plastic cap. This cap fits on the top of a tube which has a hole running through it where the water should siphon through.

When the time comes for the fabric conditioner to be released, cold water enters the small compartment and just washes the conditioner over the top and down the dispenser to the tub. When the water stops flowing, all that is left is the clear water. This water should siphon up the inside of the cap and down the tube.

This tube often gets blocked with the conditioner and if you remove the dispenser drawer and take off the cap you can give the whole thing a good clean out. If the cap is missing, the siphoning will not occur.

To test the function, hold the soap drawer under the tap and allow the water to fill the fabric compartment to overflowing. When you turn off the tap, the remaining water should slowly siphon out of the hole under the cap.

Whirlpool washer overflows at detergent dispenser

Hello, I worked on a problem like this a few days ago. Your problem is going to be a blockage in the inlet to the drum. To fix this problem find the inlet pipe normally located above the door behid a flap of rubber..push your fingers up there to see if you can feel a blockage..If not your going to have to remove the lid of the machine to access the pipe that leads from the detergent drawer to the tub. Look at the rear top of the machine..You will see three screws....remove them and push back and lift the top panel (lid) now you should be able to access the pipe. Pull the pipe off and clean it out, i suspect you will find a sock blocking the pipe :) If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck! Mike

Water in the bleach dispenser

The bleach dispenser is a syphon system. When you put in the bleach , it fills the reservoir to a point just below the syphon point. Your bleach tray has a tube attached to it, with a loose cap around the tube that causes the bleach to be delivered to the washload when the water is added. Remove the cap over the tube in your bleach tray. You'll also note a similar arrangement for your softener dispenser. Clean both caps and tubes. Make sure that the caps fit properly back down over the tubes. The syphoning effect will work only up to the point that the circuit is broken by air. If your cap sits up too high, the syphon effect is broken early, leaving residue (water) in the dispenser.

Detergent dispenser drawer stuck

You may have to remove the washer top (three phillips screws at the back, then push top back about two inches and lift it off) then drill a hole in the top of the plastic dispenser to allow you to use an object like a screwdriver to maneuver the offending part around so it will drop down and allow you to open the dispenser drawer. Use foil tape to seal hole if you don't want to buy a new dispenser. Clean out blue plastic dispenser parts so detergent will siphon out completely. Pushing down on the center tab at the back of the dispenser should allow you to take the dispenser drawer the remainder of the way out. In the future, make sure you do not use over 1 tablespoon of HE soap (and 1 teaspoon of fabric softner) max per load. Even less if you have 2x or more detergent.

Washer Leaks from Detergent Compartment

Two things might be wrong with this unit.  One problem is there is a blockage inside the hose that sends water into drum.  Make sure that's clear.  The other problem is the dispenser assembly may have a leaking problem and will spray water at an angle that will cause it to leak through the dispenser drawer.  My recommendation is to have the dispenser assembly inspected and possibly replaced.

He2 leaking from detergent dispensor

Plug off the wall, etc. Remove the rear cover. There is a thin tube coming from the control panel area to the base where the water exits, this should not be blocked, remove from top and blow to check, refit. Next clean out your outlet filter, it could be clogged, refit. This tube controls the water level. Another thing that could be the problem: Try to take the top of the machine off; there are three tubes coming into the dispenser box, these may hv come loose or something. Connect well.
