Hello there and welcome to fixya
From what you're describing it sounds like the drain pump is blocked. The nd error code indicates "no drain". If the unit can't drain it won't spin. You're going to have to slide the washer out far enough to remove the rear panel; be careful not to damage the floor. Once you get the rear panel off you will see the pump. Be sure to have plenty of towels & a small container to catch water. I am sending you instructions from the service manual to remove and replace the pump. Another possibility is the drain line is blocked or something is stuck in the tub to pump hose.

Hi Michael! How do you check to see if something is stuck in the tub? I can't get the door unlocked to get my clothes out!!

hello there sorry it took me so long to get back ok? yes you can check to see if the tubees are blocked by removing them from the pump and blowing into it it should blow freely but i really think that the pup may be either blocked or may be all together shot biut i would first make sure that it is just not clogged now as far as the door being locked this is due to the pump issue once the error code has been generated thedoor will remain till the code is cleared by fixing the drain pump issue then make sure it is unplugged for at least 30 min after that then simply press the cancel button once it is plugged back in and the door should open ok please keep me posted on how this is going i can give you further instructions if needed best regards michael

We have a similar problem. Door wouldn't unlock, makes humming/clicking noise when try to restart. My husband removed the top and unlocked the door, and some water is still in the tub. He thinks it's a door lock issue, but with the water doesn't that mean a pump issue?

i really dont think so you would have a different error code like dl or something to that nature orr err code further more if you can on some of these machines there is a small tear drop like piece under the very front of the machine if you feel under the front up towards the door handle you can find it grab it and pull on it and it too will release the door lock ok so try that too let me know

I still have the nd code, I've taken the pump out a couple of times and checked for clogging, nothing. It still won't work. What else can I try?

I tracked the "ND" code to degraded contacts in the small 3 Amp relay that is soldered to the controller board. The board passed all diagnostics, and I could even measure voltage at the pump connector. But when connected to the drain motor the current load created a huge voltage drop across the relay contacts and the motor would not turn. Used replacement boards I bought also had the same problem. I ended up replacing the weak 3A relay with a 5A version. The relay is $1.50, but the work to replace it is a real pain and required me to cut out the back of the controller board plastic mount, and also cut away the clear potting material on the component side of the controller board.

The 3A relays are fine for controlling water valve and door latch solenoids, but inadequate for handling the current of the pump motor. They should have used the 5A version for this application but that would have cost them $0.20 more.

could you tell me what relay it is on the board there is 8 or 9 of them … thank you

I'll post a picture of it later today. If you hold the board so the row of relays is at the top, it is the 4th relay on the left side of the row. If you look closely you can see the word "Pump" printed on the circuit board just below the relay.

The 5A version of the relay is Fujitsu General Purpose Relay FTR-F3AA012E-HA. I bought mine from Mouser Electronics. Getting the old one out is quite difficult unless you have the tools to unsolder 4 pins at the same time. I don't have those tools any more so I ended up destroying the old relay and then removing the pins one at a time. You need to take a lot of care not to damage the board. This is also true for cutting open the plastic on the back to get to the solder connections.

Photo showing the defective Pump Relay removed.

Note the 2 larger diameter pin holes on the upper left. That's the 120VAC relay output. The 2 smaller, closer together pin holes on the lower right are the low voltage relay controls that energize the relay.

"nd" code on my washer, after I moved residence what would cause that?

Nd = no drain. Either drain pump is clogged or defective. Too many suds can also cause this problem.

Frigidaire washer won't finish cycle

Hello Ellen Greer - This particular issue can be caused by quite a few reasons. Washer could be experiencing a communication error from the main control board, faulty door lock assembly, faulty pump or the timer itself is not operating correctly. Did you notice a humming noise? If so, either the drainage hose/pump is clogged and needs to be cleaned or could possibly have another issue with the door lock assembly or pressure switch. You can also press and hold the start/pause and cancel button together at the same time for approximately 30 seconds to display an error code on the LED. What error code does it display? However, I would suggest contacting a professional to accurately diagnose the washer.

Crosley front load washer L7 code

Hi - Are you certain the error code is L7? This manufacturer does not have any L7 error codes for any washer or other units. I understand that it will not spin either; does the unit make a humming noise? If so, either the drainage hose/pump is clogged and needs to be cleaned, or you have another issue with the door lock assembly or the timer and control board not communicating correctly.

How can I best access the pump on my Samsung front load washer? I don't know how to remove the front panel

Some samsung washers have the water pump located in the back of the machine. If your model does not have a small door located in the bottom of front than remove back service panel to access the water pump.

Washer Flashing Error Code ND; door won't open after turning washer off

Hello,

The ND error code means NO DRAIN. ,

The usually reason the door remains locked once the cycle is over is because the filter screen on the drain pump is blocked so not all the water could drain out...the door lock is tied into the pump and until the pump tells the control board that the wate r is out the door will not unlock. This tip i wrote will show ya how to take apart the washer to clean the filter on the pump.

My amana front load washer has Nd flashing and won't open door? What does Nd stand for?

Hello,
The ND error code means NO DRAIN, why it comes up is because the computer thinks that within the normal times it takes to drain the water from the tub it hasnt drained in that time.
Things that will cause it to not drain in the normal time is oversudsing becuase too much detergent was added.
Or something such as lint in the drain pump filter screen restricting the water flow into the pump

My amana front load washer wont spin and is showing an "nd" error message. what does this mean and how do i fix it?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what I understand the error code ND means “No Drain issue”. You’ll need to check for any restriction in pump assembly. It can also be due to a restricted drain hose or loose wire at pump. If after cleaning the drain hose the issue is not resolved then it means the pump has gone bad and unfortunately needs to be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
