You either have a broken belt or a clog of lint buildup inside the vacuum.

SOURCE: vacuum cleaner not picking up

My M.R. cleaner had the same problem. I found the drive belt for the beater bar was broke.
Turn the cleaner over when running and if the beater isn't turning, then the belts gone.
New belts on E-Bay £4-$7 for 2.

My Hoover U5491900 Anniversary Windtunnel will not pick up very well, there is good suction when I use the attachments, but when I use it on the floor it won't pick up much, what is wrong with it and how...

The reason why it is not picking up well is because the belt is worn or stretched and it can't turn the brush (which picks up debris) against the resistance of the carpet. Here is the belt you need:

Dyson DC07 bagless - upright mode v poor suction, wand mode ok

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the bleed valve is activating which only happens when there is a blockage.

We would recommend following the full blockage through as outlined in your user guide or in the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards

Hoover mach6 the brushes don't turn

Replace the skinny belt, but here's the kicker. turn the belt inside out so that the writing is on the inside and sits against everything. Thats what I did and I have used it once and it worked well, Lets hope it'll keep working.

Hoover Savvy has limited suction when cleaning the floor and carpet

With the unit standing upright, double check the clear plastic air passages on the sides of the vacumn to see if they are clogged.

Hoover savvy no suction on carpet setting

Check to make sure you hear the vac. motor is running when in that position. The switch in the handle could be bad if it is not.
