Bought new 60gb playstation

The 80 gig Sony PS3 supports PS2 gamesthrough software emulation.
The success of this emulation was poor at first, but Sony has improved it with several generations of firmware upgrades.
If you are experiencing difficulties with PS2 emulation, it is recommended that you upgrade to the latest firmware.
The 60GB PAL model also utilizes software emulation

playstation 2 games will only play on the 60gb ps3 the orginal console.

well for a start are you sure its 60gb cos only the 60gb plays ps1 and 2 games but the dvds thats a bit odd

I dont think it had anything to do with the game, but playstation 3's are fairly new and like the xbox 360 will have problems until they have been around. I know it sucks but about the only thing you can do is call sony and tell them the problem and chances are they will repair or replace it for free. Most likely they will already have an idea of what the problem is and be able to fix it and send it back fairly quick.

Though the ps3 80g is backwards compatible,it does not play back all ps2 games. go to sony's website,i believe they have a list of games that are,and are not compatible.also make sure your ps3 has all the latest software updates.if you have it hooked to the internet im sure it does

This is a confirmed issue for PES '08.
You'll need to wait for it's developer to come with a patch.

Some games magazines say PES is unplayable because of this defect and the company says there working on a patch.

Nothing more to do then hang in there.
I know this isn't helping you at the moment, but there's nothing you or I can do.

Get a good quality DVD lens cleaning kit. Follow the direction on the lens cleaner disc carefully.
If this does not solve your problem, You probably hanve a heat related issue with the processors. All PS3 Consoles are showing up with dried up heat Transfer compound betwen the Processors and heat sinks. You will need to contact SONY at www.playstation.com. You will need your receipt and the Warranty sticker must be intact for Sony to exchange your PS3. I wish you the best of luck
