My son has a basic supermarket digital watch, with one button on the lower left (labelled MODE) and two buttons on the face, labelled, respectively, LAP/RESET and START/STOP. If we ever had instructions on how to set this thing, they are now lost. Can you help?
I too lost the instructions for my generic 4 button digital watch and had to find the functions by trial and error and the results are below.
=========================
Adjust Alarm/Time/Date - Press and hold Mode Button. When alarm displays, release. Start-Stop Button SELECTS, Lap-Reset Button ADJUSTS selection. Pressing the Mode Button again changes from Alarm to Time/Date, ADJUST as above. Pressing it again exits. Select/Deselect Alarm, Hourly Chime or Both - Press and hold Lap-Reset Button, Start-Stop Button TOGGLES through the above options. Select 12/24 Hour Mode - Press and hold Lap-Reset Button, Mode Button TOGGLES through the above options. Select Stopwatch - Momentarily press the Mode Button, use the Start-Stop and Lap-Reset buttons to control. Display Date - Press Start-Stop Button in normal time display mode. Display Alarm - Press and hold Lap-Reset Button in normal time display mode. Cancel Alarm - Press Lap-Reset Button in normal time display mode to silence alarm. Hope this is helpful, George.
I have a similar solution and I found the instructions fir the Extech Model 365510 digital stopwatch to be helpful. You might have to extrapolate a bit, but I got my watch figured out. Here is a link to the diretions: http://www.extech.com/instrument/products/310_399/manuals/365510_UM.pdf

My watch has model number 504-tsk085, labeled Timex 1440 Sports, and Timex provides the incorrect manual for it online. I wrote these instructions after careful experiment:
Upper left button: press to switch to a stopwatch, or...
Press and hold to enter alarm setting mode. Once flashing press again to enter time/date setting mode.
-- you can only do one or the other without exiting the setting
mode (time or alarm set).
- within the setting mode you use the two right side buttons
in obvious ways to set times/dates
Exit setting mode by pressing upper left again
Lower left button: light
Upper right button (when not setting time): reveal date while pressed
Lower right button (when not setting time): reveal alarm time while pressed.
ALSO: WHILE lower right button is pressed you can change alarm
on/off and chime on/off through the four possible settings by
secondarily pressing the upper right button repeatedly.
Looking at your watch face: the upper left button is A, upper right is B, lower left is C and lower right is D.
Get your watch into "Hand Setting mode" That is the mode witht he digital time and seconds above it. From Day and Date window it would mean pushing button "C" six times to get to that mode.
Once in "Hand Setting Mode" Hold down button "A" til time blinks, then press button "D" to advance the hands, to the desired time.
Press "A" to exit mode. Press "C" to return to timekeeping mode.
On the face of the watch, there are four buttons arranged around the circle of the watch face in four positions. Starting with the upper left hand button (labelled SET), and working clockwise around the face of the watch (to ADJ., EL, and MODE), I'll label the buttons "A", "B", "C", and "D".
In other words... Button "A" is the button labelled "SET" in the upper left hand corner of the watch. Button "B" is the button labelled "ADJ." in the upper right hand corner of the watch. Button "C" is the button labelled EL in the lower right hand corner of the watch. Button "D" is the button labelled "MODE" in the lower left hand corner of the watch. Setting the Time. 1. Press and hold D as if you were setting the alarm. As above, the stopwatch will momentarily appear and then after 2 seconds the alarm time will appear with the hour flashing. 2. Press and release D and the seconds on the time of day will begin to flash. 3. Press and release B to reset the seconds to zero provided they are below 30. If they are above 30, the seconds will reset and the minutes of the time of day will advance by one. 4. Press and release A to change from flashing seconds to flashing minutes/flashing hours/flashing day of the month/flashing month of the year/flashing day of the week. In each flashing mode, pressing and releasing B advances the value by one unit. 5. Press and release D to exit time setting mode.

The watch has four buttons. The lower left button is labeled MODE on the face of the watch. There are four modes and pressing the MODE button will step through each mode until you return to the mode at the start of the process. Start at the "Normal" timekeeping mode and press the "MODE" button three times until the digital display rightmost two figures for seconds flash. Press the lower right button labeled RESET until the item you want to change is flashing. Pressing RESET cycles through seconds, minutes, hours, day, month, day of the week in the top sub-dial and then back to seconds again. When the item you want to change is flashing press the top right button labeled START to step the displayed item to the value you want.
