This sounds like either a hard drive problem, when you power on the laptop there should be an option to enter BIOS or Setup (usually F2) once inside of the BIOS you should be able to run a diagnostic. and that will tell you if there is anything wrong with the hardware. Sounds to me like the cpu fan,has died and the cpu is overheating causing the freeze, the slow running, and the excessive heat. the cpu is probably fried.
