Some camera's, especially older ones, have a limit as to the maximum size of the memory card that they support. Look in the manual to see what the camera can support.

The manual for the camera states that the memory card must be formatted in the camera and that cards formatted in a computer may not work properly. Use the format command in the camera.

I get a card error message when I install my 16 gb Duracell memory card.

The PV-GS36 uses SD cards. Your 16GB card is an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

We may be able to recover the data for you. If it is a logical recovery, we can do it for as little as $59.95! We only charge if we are successful. If we cannot recover the data, we only charge you for return shipping.

Did you check the card compatibility? Were you able to use the same cards with the Camera before? Are you able to use the same card with another device?

I have a lumix fz28 which when you turn it on states that 'the memory card is locked'how do I unlock it? thanks

There is a small white plastic sliding Tab on the SD card try it both up and down positions, if it still has the error, then maybe the switch in the camera is dirty / faulty

Panasonic lumix DMC fs15 memory card parameter error

Hi,
Has this card worked before in your camera?
If so, have you formatted it on a PC by any chance?

Try to format the card in camera, this should help. If it still doesn't work then the card might be damaged (unlikely but possible).

Good luck,
Raf

DMC-FZ28 camera memory

First of all, it's faster to use a fast SD to USB adapter with a fast SD card. This beats attaching a (slow) cable to the camera by far. Plus, the method of transfer gets confusing when considring internel memory via cable, on some systems. Skip the cable. I like to get my SD card with matching USB adapter. Both of these need to rated fast. Not just a "Class 6" and not just big but FAST. It saves your time! Repeatedly.

Therefore, switch to "Play" mode. Go down to the "Playback" menu and find "Copy". Copy "in" to the SD icon. That's it.

You might want to clear you internal memory too. But only after your pictures are safe.

Sorry for the extreme delay in answering your question: I've been trawling for old unanswered questions today and yours came up. The following answer will undoubtedly be way too late to be of use to you, but may assist others searching FixYa for an answer to the same problem.

You have been mistaking SD cards for SDHC cards. They look the same but are different, and your camera cannot use SDHC cards as it was designed before they existed. The limitation is due to the hardware in your camera so it cannot be updated to SDHC standards.

Your 2GB card was definitely an SD card as SDHC cards have a minimum capacity of 4GB, and 2GB SD cards are the maximum capacity which your camera can handle. Your only fix is to either stick to 2GB maximum capacity SD cards or to replace the camera with one which is SDHC compatible.

i suggest you first try another card to check if the card or the camera is faulty. if it is the canera then it could be the sd card slot that is faulty. this will have to be checked by a qualified panasonic tech.
