I have a PNY 16GB Preformance Series SDHC Class 6 - 15MB/s (100x) Part No. P-SDHC16G6-GE (http://www3.pny.com/16GB-Performance-Series-SDHC-Class-6-15MBs-100X-P3044C442.aspx)
and a Panasonic Lumix DMC LX3 Digital Camera. (http://panasonic.net/avc/lumix/compact/lx3/index.html)
Here is what happened: I took the SD Card out of my camera and inserted it into my 13-inch, Mid 2012 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8 (12A269). After importing the photos into iPhoto '11 Version 9.3.2 (670.63) it asked me if I wanted to erase the photos from the SD Card. I said yes and upon inserting the SD Card back into my camera It asked me to format the card. I started the format but I accidentally pushed the card which caused the spring release to let the card out during the format. Now when ever I insert the card into the camera it says: Memory Card Error Memory Card Parameter Error. I tried formatting it on many computers but the closest I got to it being reformatted was on Snow Leopard in which disk utility recognized the card, but had an error during format.

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. There are also other common causes if the above didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.
Class 6 and 10 cards are high speed cards suitable for videos....they write fast and don't get hung up. With that said, I use a Sandisk class 2 and a class 4 and have never had a problem with either one.
You a correct...your camera can use the card. Is the slide switch on the side of the card in the unlocked position? Go into the camera menu without the card and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. Then try to format the card again. Let me know what happened.
The Panasonic DMC-TZ1 camera supports SDHC cards. SDHC is a "Secure Digital High Capacity" memory card, and the spec says an SDHC capable device can use any SDHC card - so, you can go 16GB, 32GB or more - limited only by how much money you want to spend.
You can still upload all photos to your computer without the specific software - Using your USB cable, wait until your computer registers the camera as a new device and you get a pop up.
If not explore my computer and pick up the device manually
