I have the same exact problem. I just switched to a mac and the colors are awful. I tried from 3 different macs at work, trying different combinations of color profiles, settings, etc, and the colors always look completely off. Blues are magenta, bright red is a dull reddish, orange is completely brown. It looks like Xerox decided to not even try to make this aspect work with the Mac. This is on the latest Mac book Pro, running Snow Leopard, to a Xerox Phaser 8560 DN.

I bet you used a Generic toner (Mediaq Science?) this will contaminate the developer and cause poor prints. Vacuum, Replace developer, replace toner (Xerox Brand). Good to go.
I have problem with my Phaser 6130 Laser Printer, I changed toners (black, cyan, magenta yellow). My printer printing only cyan and magenta, colors black and red is very, very light. I cleaned my printer exactly. Everything is ok, but he does not has a black & magenta toners. What's happen? I don't know.

The large of the black cartridge (5) is for ordinary paper in printing menu of computer. Selecting photo paper uses only the small black cartridge (8) and the color cartridges are used to make black even for gray black printing. Choosing ordinary paper, you can print in black 10 even 20 times with the large black cartridge (5) (by refilling and quoted as empty) . You simply need to press a long time the hold button, as explained in the manual on the printer CD, to continue to print with an empty cartridge. (at least in Europe) The color cartridges are slightly used even when printing only in black and become empty, even if you never use the colors!
