I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".
This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.
wow..I could be the FIRST..I am impressed..NOT! check to see if there is ink, by blotting the print head on damp paper towel. otherwise..delete and reinstall the printer. could be a software problem.
hi!

Make sure the paper aligning slides are tight to the sides of the
paper. In the case that they are spring loaded make sure there is not
something preventing them from holding the paper properly aligned.
The print head could be 'off-track'...
If the text is properly aligned on the edge of the page, but appears
crooked it is related to the print head assembly. If the text is not
aligning to the edge of the page then the paper is not feeding straight
and the paper aligning slides are at fault.
It is also possible that one of the paper feed rollers are not grasping
the paper and it is forcing it to one side as it pulls it in.
