SOURCE: resuming windows

Guess the error code is that of the diagnostics in built in the dell systems.

This error code indicates a problem with the Hard drive. It can be resolved by reseating the hard drive and the optical drive. Kindly look in to the manual and look for the location of the hard drive. It will have 2 screws which needs to be removed after which the hard drive can be pulled out. Optical drive will have one screw embedded deep inside.

Place the hard drive and the optical drive back in its place and then test for the error code.

Please turn off system and remove the battery and the AC adapter when performing these steps.

Power light green, but turns on for a second says 'Resuming Windows' and then screen goes black and nothing else happens. Power light still green and another light green with a padlock and number 1 in...

It sounds like windows may be stuck. While turning you laptop on hold down the f8 key. You should get a text menu appear after a few seconds. Select start windows normally and this should fix the problem.

Incidently Asus PCs have an issue with windows hibernation. If you know ho you should disable this feature, if your not sure how to do it, leave me a comment and i'll walk you through it.

Long time to boot acer 3680

Hmm... It sounds like you may need to do go into safe mode and do a chkdsk /r at a command prompt. You could try a System Restore Point if nothing else works... If you need to backup any data and reinstall this is a great OS to do it with: http://www.ubuntu.com
It will allow you to boot off the CD, get online, and even explore your Vista NTFS Partition.
