***Panasonic NN-S615BF is the REAL model of my Microwave Inverter Oven. It wasn't on the list below.
Recently, my microwave oven has begun BEEPING out of the blue (when it's not being used) and the display starts counting down: P 10, P 9, P 8, P 7, etc. When it reaches P 1, the countdown begins again. Only unplugging the oven stops this countdown.
This problem only occurs when the oven is plugged into a particular outlet in my kitchen.
Thanks for the quick reply -- but what does "neutral ground" mean? I should say that this entire outlet was replaced by a licensed electrician a few months ago. Thanks for the quick reply -- but what does "neutral ground" mean? I just need clarification for what "neutral ground" means. I'm an electrical ignoramus.I just need clarification for what "neutral ground" means. I'm an electrical ignoramus.
Hello, my Panasonic 1250W Genius Sensor microwave just began doing the same P-countdown. None of the buttons work. This occurred within hours of using the microwave normally. It has been in the same plug for many months and has worked terrifically.Hello, my Panasonic 1250W Genius Sensor microwave just began doing the same P-countdown. None of the buttons work. Judging from the model and without looking it up I expect that unit has an inverter. If it is not the Switches and you have replaced the mag, the inverter is the power supply for the mag to work so either mag not getting power from inverter or inverter not getting signals from main PCB Timer board.

It certainly sounds like something is wrong. My first GE microwave was like this and it wasn't advertised as anything special. After a long life I replaced it with a Sharp (makes most all microwaves) and was disappointed at the cycling on and off. Now Panasonic makes what they call Inverter microwaves with continuous power. I recently bought a GE (probably made by Panasonic) with this Inverter technology and am very pleased with it. Make sure the microwave you have says AccuWave on it, if it does, it sounds like the magnetron may have been replaced with a non-continuous type of magnetron. Was it bought refurbished/returned/clearanced? I think when I was researching this that it MAY have something to do with the type of power supply to the magnetron and not so much the magnetron itself.

Over the Range Microwave with Panasonic Inverter Technology provides true multiple power levels. When the user asks for 60% power, the oven delivers a true 60% power, not a pulsed delivery of 100% power 60% of the time. This method is called linear power delivery
These early inverter microwaves blew their high current power transistors quite regularly. These high current power transistors are quite expensive to replace, and if one blows, there is a likelyhood of others blowing. As the microwave is over 13 years old, I'd suggest getting a new one. Inverter technology in microwaves is now a mature technology, resulting in reasonable prices and much improved reliability.
Our technician suggest that there may be a problem with the Inverter Board in this model, which is something that would need to be looked at by a Service Center.
My panasonic microwave model # NN-S540BFW stops after 4 seconds after you hit the start button and cuts off on its own. What is wrong with my microwave?
If
the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback
signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will
stop the cook cycle.
It may be a loose connection in the wiring between the
inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those
components has failed.
Due to the lethal
voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an
inexperienced person work on these.
