Cpu fan noise

Once a fan is failing, it needs replacement promptly as the CPU cannot withstand over heating. If the CPU fails, it costs more to repair than a Fan.

Cpu fan failed. computer shuts down. What should I replace?

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

When i boot up the laptop i get a message 'Main Fan Error' the fan runs on start up then stops just before i get the error message. Fan will not restart... Joseph

Hi,

This message means that the fan on your CPU (processor) is failing or has failed. This is not good because if the fan on the CPU fails your CPU will overheat and cause your machine to lock up and become non-functional till it cools down and then the same cycle will repeat till the fan is replaced.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Cpu high temperature, cpu shutting down

The CPU is shutting down because it is overheating (ie thermal shutdown) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this problem is not fixed, eventually the CPU will fail completely.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely. Also check the power supply fan to see if it spins freely. If the CPU fan has failed, then replace the CPU fan. The CPU fan and heat-sink assembly may be clogged with dust, if so loosen the dust and vacuum to remove the dust.

Blank screen slow coming on md6 model 7700 fan was excesively noisey before pc stopped coming on all together, almost 4years old any ideas please?

Hi,

It sounds like the CPU fan has failed and is causing the PC to overheat straight away.

To determine if the CPU fan has failed you will have to remove the side panel from the desktop and check the fan.

If the fan is caked in dust try cleaning the fan blades and the metal heat sink with a clean dry paintbrush, then try turning the PC on to see if it makes any difference.

If it still does not come on or it comes on but the fan isn't rotating then the CPU fan will need to be replaced.
If there is still no power to computer then chances are that the CPU itself or the motherboard has blown.

This will mean a new computer or replacement motherboard.

Amd phenom faulty

Replace cpu fan , failed cpu fan might have caused CPU stoped working. If you are sure about the CPU fails then replace the CPU. If the problem seems continues after that too, then PC might have failed to boot due to other reasons. What shows on the screen once you power on the computer? There could be , motherboard , or harddisk faults too. Try unplugging other parts and see if the computer boots from CD or USD flash or floppy drive!! Once you know that motherboard works then replace the CPU. There could be BIOS setup problem. Did you check the BIOS for harddisk is set properly.

CPU Fan Failed

Yes that is what you need to do. It's either due to your CPU board having issues or your fan is just old and needs to be replaced. You always need to have a fan running to cool off your CPU. Let me know if this helps and if you need anything else.

Cpu fan noisy/chip fan fail error messages

pils,

Yes. This sounds like a fan issue. The noise often comes from bearings failing within the fan. Also, a failing bearing can make things harder on the motor as it brings the fan up to speed. This is likely the reason that you see increased warnings during the fan speed check while booting because it comes to speed more slowly as bearing wear increases.

I give this a 90% chance that your CPU fan is causing the issue. Since a decent CPU fan will cost you ~$20 online, it's not much out of your pocket if you happen to uncover another culprit.

I'll keep an eye on this post. Let me know how things go.

Cpu fan noisy /chip fan fail

You must buy a new CPU Fan. You can get them HERE or a zillion other places on the Internet. You need a Socket 939 type fan that will handle your cpu speed. If you need help installing it, it may be in the manual. You can read the manual by clicking on the picture of your MB at the top of this post and then scrolling down.

Hope that fixed ya...
