How do you get a lexmark X3480 to scan when I follow the instructions and press start nothing happens and we have no instructions in English

Select your operating system > click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended Downloads > download and execute the file. A quick fix for most communication problem can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power outlet. When the printer turns on, reconnect the printer into your computer. Try to scan again.

The Lexmark X3480 is compatible with Windows operating system only. You can download the driver from the Lexmark website using the link: Lexmark X3480 Drivers. To select the version of your operating system, click on change OS.


Then click on FILTER.


Click on the driver under Recommended Downloads.

To scan a document, please follow the steps given below:

1. Go to "Start," "All Programs," Lexmark 2500 series, "Lexmark Imaging Studio."
2. Click on "Scan," "Save edit or share."
3. Under "What are you scanning" choose the option as "photo," "several photo" or "documents."
4. Select the location to save as my pictures or other folder on your computer.
5. Click on "start" to scan.

your OCR software must support other languages, especially if its like cyrillic or chinese..english OCR software wont know what to do with "special characters"

First off, how is the device connected? is it on a USB cable or a Ethernet, if it is set up with a paralell cable it will not scan correctly.
Also, is all the sotware loaded onto your comuter.
You may want to go to the lexmark site, download the all in one firmware and reload it following the setup instructions to be sure all the items on the device are properly loaded.
It would be at lexmark.com. And look for downloads. Then look for your product. A fresh install with the newest software would be the best way to go to be sure everything is in stalled.
