Make sure your sound drivers are up to date. Go to start right click on computer, select manage, select device manager. Choose sound and right click volume and update drivers. If no drivers are present you can get them at Dell.com/support.

1. Select "Choose from a list of all Dell products" in the "NO"
column
2. Hit "continue" button
3. Select "Desktops"
4. Select "Optiplex"
5. Select "OptiPlex GX280"
6. Now choose the "operating system" you need the drivers for
7. Download the drivers you need.

When Installing:
They need to be installed in a specific order - very Important.

1. Chipset - so download and install this first.
2. Video
3. Network
4. Sound (Audio)
5. Modem (communications) - If you even want a modem

just select the operating system and apparently there are no drivers for windows 2000 or later the only drivers that i can find are for windows ME so select that and download the video drivers (its the last selection).
