Dell keeps a master code for each of their machines. All you have to do is transfer ownership of the machine into your name, if it isn't already, and give tech support a call, and they'll give you the code over the phone. You can transfer ownership at Dell's support site, there a subcategory on the left of the screen that reads "ownership transfer". Here's a link for the tech support number.

You can download the video and device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. If the speakers work, the system is OK as it uses the same amplifier. Try some more headphones and make sure you are not in the wrong socket. Easily done.

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password and privileges. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://67.20.82.163/
