GPX Ml552b Black Mp3 Player 4gb 1.8" Lcd Screen Micro Usb Sc Logo
Brandon Hanson Posted on Sep 25, 2013

I got a GPX ML552B and it wont turn on, and when i plug it into my computer it doesn't show up like my computer doesn't recognize it as a device. I tried letting it charge several times but it still won't work, all that happens is when i hook it up to my computer the screen begins to give off an almost unnoticeable amount of light only visible in the dark, and occasionally when I hold the play\pause it flashes bright white then returns to its previous state. it hasn't worked once since i got it.

SOURCE: I cant get my computer to recognize the mp3, I just want to put music on it.

if your computer recognizes the device as a valid drive (look in 'my computer' folder for it) then you should be able to reformat it. Right click on the device in my computer, click format, quick format. set to FAT format if it lets you. run the format, then disconnect the device and power it back on. it should re-boot and then try to connect again. Try using windows medai player to transfer music. or download Rhapsody and try using that.

SOURCE: Nextar MA 166 MP3 Won't Charge

You have to install the software for the mp3 player BEFORE connecting the mp3 player to the computer, or else Windows XP will override the native drivers. That particular Nextar is not compatible with Windows Vista, so you may have a problem if you have a newer computer.

SOURCE: the GPX drive is not showing

initailly there was a dev. sys config file or something of that nature on the GPX website like a year ago that would allow you to replace and/or access your music and/or the GPX mp3 player, however 2-3 years later they have fixed bugs and put out many other mp3 players so your luck of finding this file is dwindling. try it w/ and w/out batteries and try to go to win explorer as oppsed to "my computer"

The Gpx file won't show up on my computer. It will only charge it.

You need to set it to USB mode first and then you will see two disks in My Computer, the first will be named Tools, in this folder will be a file named setup. Make sure to run this so the computer has the drivers etc, to recognize your device.

Computer was checking files and it got unplugged now the computer wont recognize it and wont get past the gpx loo screen.

I solved this problem the next day by plugging it into a windows 95 computer which recognized it when my toshiba didnt. It was frozen on the checking files and I was able to manually end it. There must be something in a 95 that isnt in a 200 model.

Will not connect to my computer, shows zzz on screen

1. Connect your ML648B to your computer with Windows XP or later.
2. By default your computer will recognize ML648B as GPX MTP Device. (Wait for few seconds to a minute allowing your Windows computer to recognize and install necessary drivers for the device for first time as MTP Device.)
3. Press the POWER button from top of your ML648B, to change it to USB mode connection. You will also see USB on the screen of ML648B. (Wait for few seconds to a minute allowing your Windows computer to recognize and install necessary drivers for the device for first time as USB device.)
4. ML648B will now mount 2 drives, one as Tools (as CD-Drive) and second as Removable Disk (Drive) – under My Computer on your Windows Desktop.
5. Double click & open Tools, and run Setup.exe to start installing Video Conversion Software tool.
6. Select defaults options and finish the installation by clicking on Close or Finish.
7. If asked, click on Continue Anyway on Windows XP or Install this driver software anyway on Windows Vista.

Not working

Unplug computer power cord for ten minutes, if it is a laptop, also remove battery at same times.

If the gpx is battery powered, also remove the mp3 battery.

If the reset above does not work, test the GPX on a different computer.

If player works on a different computer, then try a system restore, or reinstall windows if necessary.

If player does not work on a different computer, then the player is probably faulty.

It wont stay on and windows media wont detect it!

What OS? Win98SE requires drivers & updates which can be downloaded from the GPX web site under "support".
