Nextar MA 166 MP3 Won't Charge

Plugged in my MP3 to the USB port. Light was solid red (was supposed to flash if charging). I pushed the on button. Computer said something about driver problem your device/software may not work properly. Now when I turn on the MP3 while connected to charge MP3, the light is solid for about a minute, flashes a couple of times and shuts down. Any solution. I'm new at this stuff. Thanks

You have to install the software for the mp3 player BEFORE connecting the mp3 player to the computer, or else Windows XP will override the native drivers. That particular Nextar is not compatible with Windows Vista, so you may have a problem if you have a newer computer.

I HAVE A NEXTAR MP3 PLAYER MODEL MA797 I CAN NOT GET IT TO CHARGE WITHOUT THE DRIVER. I CANNOT LOCATE THE DISC. DO YOU CARRY A DRIVER DOWNLOAD?

I don't know about your model MP3 player, but most MP3 players charge via the USB cable. Just connect the MP3 player to a computer's USB port to charge the player or a USB charger.

How do i charge my sansa mp3?

  • Step 1:Plug the appropriate end of the USB link cable that came with your SanDisk MP3 player into the MP3 player itself. The port for this cable can be found on the right side of most models of SanDisk MP3 players.
  • Step 2:Plug the other end of the USB link cable into a free USB port on your computer. This will effectively connect your SanDisk MP3 player to your computer.
  • Step 3:Turn your computer on. This will cause your SanDisk MP3 player to automatically begin drawing power from the computer and charging its battery. On the screen, an indicator light will flash yellow while the player is charging.
  • Step 4:Disconnect the cable from both your MP3 player and your computer when the device has finished charging. You will be able to tell when the charge is complete when the indicator light that previously was flashing yellow appears as solid green.

Is there a way to ''hack'' the nextar ma 166-200 to randomize play?

    hi yumpfan,
I personally don't think that one is able to modify the player's firmware in the desired way, there is no button to it, too.
Just too small. Please think about purchasing another player if you wish to have such function.

    Good luck

Nextar MA715 MP3 player wont take a charge.

Best first bet is dead battery. If it is a special battery then do the costings for the repair as it may be cheaper to replace the player.

    Powering on

OK ... after a lot of trial and error, I got mine to work. I think it may be a really low charge or something. I had to press the power button until it was completely dark ... no flashing faint green or any colors. Then when I plugged it in, I got a solid red and left it for awhile. Then when I pressed the power button I got yellow, red and green ... the computer recognized it and then got a solid yellow.

Before when I had it plugged in, I'd get a lot of red random flashing ... and it just didn't seem to charge at all ... even after a full day.

I think the issue was that it was in this "flashing state (red when connected, very faint green when disconnected)" It wasn't easy to get it to turn off completely. Most of the presses of the power button didn't change the state at all. But if I got it just right, I could see the faint green light go off. That's when I plugged it in and got a solid red light, and eventually a good charge.

Hope this works for some others.

    WON"T WORK

sounds like a dead battery. Plug the origional charger into it and the front led (below the flash) should flash red. If the red led in the back of the camera flashes or stays lit, then you have the wrong charger plugged in. (the camera won't power up if the back red/green led is on when plugged in)
