AirPlus Extreme Wireless G Router-Can't reset Username/Password

I'm trying to get my WEP address from my router. Since i've forgotten the username/password for the router, I've followed the instructions for resetting the router, but when I go to http://192.168.0.1 and enter Username:admin and leave the password blank as it says to do, it won't accept it. Thanks for any help.

I tried to leave the username blank and put admin in password box, but this didn't work either. Once I hit enter it simply brings the same box back up. thanks

Yes, my laptop is physically connected/plugged in to the router via cable. I hope this is what you mean. If not, please forgive my ignorance and explain further. Thanks again for the help!

To connect to the wireless setup utility you have to be connected to the router with a ethernet cable, cannot be done with a wireless connection.

Are you connecting through a ethernet cable to the router? it can not be done wirelessly.

Adress is 192.168.1.254 iwhant ueser and password

type in a browser your IP address (192.168.1.254) a window should pop up asking for your credentials, Unless you have changed them they should be:
user: admin
password: (blank)
this is the default password for this router. If you have changed it (and forgotten it) , you can do a reset using a paper clip on the back of the unit. Note it will reset all settings back to the default setting.

If password is forgotten and not written down is there anything to recover PW?

hello chucke,
If you cannot remember the password the only way to get access to your router is to reset it, press the reset button on the back of the router in for 20-30 seconds, or until all of the lights flash.  This does a factory reset on your router.  the ip address is 192.168.0.1, username is admin, or administrator.  Leave the password field blank.
Hope this was helpful, good luck

Need wep key

Access the management page from your browser. (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Etc.)

The address is: 192.168.1.1

The default password is admin, leave the username blank

Click on the "Wireless " link

Then click on "Security"

You will see your WEP key there.

If you have forgotten your router passsword, you will need to reset the router.

Linksys reset

The easiest method of resetting your Linksys router's password is to reset your router back to the default factory settings. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password "admin", in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to "admin" on some of the newer Linksys router models).

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

We have forgotten our password to our router - it is a WEP # - can we reset the router??

The router password gets you into the utility program--the WEP password is the SSID allowing you to connect (wirelessly) to the router
Open INTERNET EXPLORER and. (In the URL address field), enter the IP address for your wireless router ( the DEFAULT GATEWAY. This information should be contained in your router's manual. If you cannot find it, enter "198.168.1.1" as the address. This is usually the default IP address for most routers.do not type "www" just the number
Enter the username and password for your router. This should also be supplied in the router's manual. If you don't have this information, go to routerpasswords.com and find the brand and model of your router. This site lists the default login information for most wireless routers you can try "ADMIN" for user name and "PASSWORD" for passsword.
You should now be able to see your wireless router settings. You can configure your network ports, as well as SSID (wireless network name) and passwords.

OR YES YOU CAN ALWAYS RESET TO THE "OUT-OF THE BOX" SETTINGS BY PRESSING THE TINY RESET BUTTON ON THE BACK (need paper-clip)

Trying to get my wep key or wpa key

Hi,

If you've forgotten your wep/wpa key, the only thing you can do is to reset the router. On the back of the router you'll find a small hole that should say reset on it. Hold that button in for about 10 seconds and it will reset the router back to it's original settings. In which you can go in and reset up a new wep key. This time, you might want to write down the key on a label and stick it on the bottom of the router. That way if you forget only people that physically have access to the router can see it.

Good Luck

How can I get the IP for it

Google the model number with the model number and a question like What is the ip address to access router model XXXXXXX. It will give you a 192.168.------. It should also give you the default username and password. Then you push the reset button on the router which resets the router to the defaults. You can now access it and setup your own wep or wpa key, password etc. Be well

Finding a Wep/Wpa Key

You need to open the router's admin page by opening your Internet Explorer. On the address bar type http://192.168.0.1 it will prompt you for username and password. By default the username is admin and the password is blank (no password). You can see the WEP or WPA key on the WIRELESS tab. Goodluck!
