Follow the steps to setup your linksys router:
Connect the Cable modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port.
Connect a computer to any of the router's numbered ports (1, 2, 3 or 4). If you are using a wireless computer, you will need to connect it first with an Ethernet cable.
Connect the power adapter of your router to the power outlet.
Access the router’s web-based setup page. Open any web browser such as Internet Explorer®, Mozilla Firefox® or Safari®. Enter “192.168.1.1” in the address bar then press [Enter].
You will then be asked for your login details. Leave the User name field blank and enter “admin” in the Password field then click OK.
On the Linksys Setup tab, click on MAC Address Clone.
Select Enabled then click on Clone My PC’s MAC.
    Click Save settings.

SOURCE: may i have a quuestion to you regarding my problem

you need to configure your linksys router. to do this
connect to the router with a cat5 cable in any of the lan ports.
open internet explorer and go to the http://192.168.1.1
the default login/pass login : blank pass: admin
if you had changed this before please use that login/pass. or reset the router if you can't login by holding the reset button for 30 secs.
once you login go to the wireless button.
there you can set the SSID of your wireless network. this will be the name of your wireless network.
then go to wireless security to set the security to WPA.
choose a good passphase that you can remember.
apply the settings you had made.
on your laptop unplug from the router and search for a wireless network. you should see the ssid name that you made.
connect to it and it will prompt you to input a wireless password.
put the passphase that you setup for your wifi.
you should now be able to surf the internet wirelessly.

What do I put into the Shared Key box?

The Shared Key needs to be the same on the access point and on computers trying to connect to it. So if you're setting it on the router, use whatever key you want (there are some requirements, depending on whether you're using WEP, WPA or whatever), then copy the router key so that you can type it in on the computers.

I want to set up my Wireless-G 2.4 GHZ 54Mbps

Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Hi there, you don't need to install from the disk. Make sure your modem connects to your router and then the computer's LAN port is connected to the LAN port of the router. Open internet explorer and in the address line type 192.168.1.1 this will connect you to the router's setup. On older Linksys routers the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin." You then can find the wireless setup to configure your router. Make sure if you use a WEP code you use the same code from your computer's wireless adaptor. Good Luck...
