Linksys Computers & Internet - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

This is something to try:

Download drivers for your wireless device from this website. Afterward uninstall your wireless adapter. Then re-install it using the drivers you just downloaded. That should repair the issue(s), if not let me know and we'll take a look at other possibilities.

You can never have too much security, however there are some firewalls that will not work with hardware firewalls, that includes the all Linksys Routers . Keeping this in mind, some software firewall will continue working after the router is installed. If it does, it shouldn't need to remove it, because it's an extra layer of security. However if there are difficulties using the Internet with the Software firewall after installing the router, try disableing it to see if internet is accessable. If the internet works after disabling the software firewall, then remove the firewall.

I see that you are looking for the security Key settings, to be able to get your security key settings fir the Router you will need to get your Routers IP address.

Step 1. click the stat button on the lower left side of your Desktop screen, click all programs and look for Accessories, then click command promp this should show a black screen with a blinking cursor type in ipconfig then press enter this will show you information about your networks ip address, Look for Default gateway something like this this varies on the router that you have.

Step 2. Enter the IP address on the address Bar of your browser then press enter this should show you the Routers settings page that is where you can see your routers settings for the security key.

to see your security key in windows you will need to check in device manager and click open Network and sharing center.

Upper right hand side you should see Manage wireless networks, click on Manager wireless networks it will show you a list of wireless Routers that you laptop has connected to, in the list look for the Router that you are connecting to and double left click on it it show you a window click on security this will show yout the settings for your windows security but the security will be encrypted as dots, the above instructions will show you how to get the security key from the router to be able to enter it in your windows settings and make the security key on the Router and your windows the same .

I hope that I have answered your question about getting your security Key :)

A "certificate-error" occurs when you access a "secure-HTTP" site (one that uses the 'https://' prefix for the URL) and the "certificate" that the site is "secure" (namely that the site really is the site that it claims to be) is invalid. Certificates have a "start-date" and an "end-date" and certificates can be "revoked". If the certificate is for a different web-site ('' versus '') or is revoked, or if the current date is not between the "start" and "end" date, you get the "certificate error" message.

What site did you try to access?

I Fixed it with a new 470uf 10v cap ps its the one next to the circle copper wrapped wire than CS29 is written next to it.

You must use your Cisco Connect CD Install, this runs a wizard, otherwise you need to know default IP address, administrator password and some other data.

First and foremost, did you start with the Holy Grail of steps when dealing with routers?

YES! It does make a difference and it matters.
Hopefully you haven't bricked it (probably not).

If it is powered on, press and HOLD the reset button until the VERY END, DO NOT LET UP.
Holding the reset button for 30 seconds, then unplug the power and wait 30 seconds, plug power back in and wait 30 seconds. . . NOW you can let up on the reset button.

Now you can try and reflash the firmware, DO make sure you are using the correct version of DD-WRT for your EXACT model AND Version.

I have only done a few, but the 30/30/30 is crucial I am telling you!

Check the available memory on your PC. It may be limited and far too small for the operation you are running. Same thing happened to me

Check the wall outlet for power, using a lamp or such. If you can get a multi-meter, set the meter to Volts-DC between 12 and 20. Plug the power supply into the wall outlet and test the other end for voltage. The power supply should tell you its output so the reading should be more than a couple of volts. If it is less or ZERO the power supply is dead. If it has power, then open the router and check for a fuse. If the fuse is dead, replace. If there is no fuse or the fuse is OK then the router may be dead. Best of luck.

It's a wireless router, so you may not need to use a port at all.

You can connect to any of the ports numbered 1 through 4. The yellow Internet port should connect to your outside network. (Cable modem or router or Ethernet port from your Internet service provider.)
