Hi what will cause my ps3 to crash 2to3 times aday i was on it today i was on it for 5 minutes and it crash so can you let me know what it is pls

The PSN is down today (3-9-20011) for scheduled Maintenance. It wont be back up until 10pm EST, which is right now on my clock, actually. Try again in about 5 minutes and see if that helps.

do you get a yellow light? i bet you do..

1)Turn off your playstation 3. If you think your ps3 has been caught by the heat, then wait at least 20 minutes and put it back on again
2) Check if there's any loose cable.
3) Try to put out your playstation's hard-drive, and put it back in. You might want to repeat this 2-3 times for better results.

If this did not work
Send your playstation back to Sony

Global issue, Seems Playstation network is offline(CRASHED). Your date and time is off too and to wont allow you to update it via the internet. Your going to have to wait like the rest of us PS3 junkies till Sony fixes it

It may be cause due to the problem of your video driver problem . Please update or reinstall it.

Does your console crash about the time the fan kicks on? This is most likely a "heat sink" issue! If this is the case, it's going to need to be sent in for service. No matter what you do, it's just going to keep crashing. When this happened to me, I sent it in to PSR repairs ( www.psr1.com ) They said my repairs exceded the value of the unit... Now Sony is replacing it. Granted, I was still under the extended WalMart warranty, but it goes to show the seriousness of your issue.
Sorry to be the barer of bad news, bro. But your console really needs to get to a shop.

p.s. PSR does both warranty & out of warranty work.

One thing you can do is check your connection on your PS3. What i would do is i would check if i can go on the internet (WWW) and see if that works then i know its not the connection. After that i would take my ps3 and totly turn it of for about 10 minutes, then put in a PS3 Game that doesn't work online and see if i can get on. If that doesn't work then you need! to call the PS3 company and tell them whats going down and tell them that you need them to fix it A Sap

If you have your PS3 in a cabinet it could be overheating. My was crashing when I first bought it and it seamed to be getting pretty hot. We took it out of the cabinet and it works fine. They do sell an after market fan that lowers te temperature on mine.

I'm not sure this is your problem but you can check it out.
