Sorry to say it but your so called Technicians don't seem to have a clue.

One person talks about adjusting the convergence which you can't on this set, besides the TV shutting off on its own have NOTHING to do with convergence.

All the answers given are the same...replace the lamp, replacing a good lamp will NOT fix the problem with this TV. I have the same set and it has the same issue.

None of your "Technicians" seem to know, they just pretend or come up with standard answers.

The solutions and photos given above have NOTHING to do with this TV....they do NOT apply to this TV.

This is a generic answer that you're giving that applies to other R. Projection TV but not to the Philips DLP TV in question.

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move themdull picture after even after i replaced the lamp - 2c07611.pngections your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around imagdull picture after even after i replaced the lamp - 578ba6c.jpg />

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Phillips tv has a dark picture

Is it a LCD or a CRT Phillips TV.
If LCD - could be the lamp just getting old (lot of hours on lamp). Could find the model # of the TV and do a Google search of the TV Model # to find a replacement lamp. If its an older CRT Projection TV the tubes may be getting old and unable to illuminate/glow as they used too! Much like a old set of headlamps on a car.

I have a dull picture on my mitsibishi TV model WD-60C8 that just happened out onv nowhere. what could be the problem

Hello,

The reason you have a dull picture is because the lamp/light of the television is bad.

Try to replace the lamp of the television and it will be okay once again.

And if that does not work then it means it is a cold joint as a result of melted lead on the main board of the television.

Take care

Sony KDS 50a2020. Tv Seems to Dull. not a setting.

Two possibilities:

1. The lamp. When did you last replace it? They will dim over time and lose focus, clarity, brightness and sharpness. If it has been 18-24 months, and this is your main tv, consider replacing it.

It's a F-9308-860-0. They go for about $175.00.

2. Let's say you follow my advice, put in a new lamp and the picture is still dim, dark, dingy and fuzzy? Then you, my friend, need a new Optic Assembly. The thing your lamp shines into and the thing that gives you a picture to look at. They can fail or wear out for all sorts of reasons--too many for me to type out now. But, suffice to say, if you have recently replaced the lamp (less than 6 months) and are experiencing a drop in brightness, consider getting on the phone with Sony. Even if you are out of warranty, your set is covered against Optic failure until June 30, 2010.

Hope this helps.

Watching tv when the picture went black and now the green on light flashes for 30 times and turns off

A green flashing light for this model of TV indicates that the lamp cover is open on the TV.
  1. Unplug the power cable to the TV.
  2. Remove the 2 retaining screws on the lamp cover with a Phillips type screwdriver.
  3. Remove the lamp door completely from the TV.
  4. Remove the two retaining screws on the lamp case.
  5. Lift up the fixed wire handle of the lamp.
  6. Pull out the handle slowly and remove the lamp case.
  7. Insert the new lamp gently into the correct position. Make sure it is inserted correctly.
  8. Using a manual Phillips screwdriver (Do Not use an electric screwdiver), tighten the screws you removed in
    step 3.
  9. Replace the lamp cover and tighten the cover screws.
  10. Plug in the power cord and turn on the TV. After the initial warmup period (which may take up to several
seconds for full picture brightness), the TV should operate normally.
If any of the following conditions exist, turn off the TV, unplug the power cord, and repeat steps 1–9 to ensure that the lamp unit and lamp unit
door are installed correctly:
  • The lamp indicator flashes green.
  • No picture
  • Dark picture
  • TV will not turn on
If, after repeating steps 1–10, the problem still exists, call Customer Service at 1-800-631-3811.
