Whirlpool Refrigerator/Freezer not cooling

Last night our refrigerator was fine, this morning it was not cool any longer. The compressor is running and blowing air out of the vents, but it is not cool air. We have a Whirlpool ET8MTEXKQ0 Top Mount Refrigerator. My husband is currently checking this out but not really sure what the problem may be (i.e. compressor, relay). We did not have a power failure or anything out of the ordinary happen that we are aware of. This refrigerator is on a surge protector as well.

Thanks!

Lora Bowen

Need your husband to unplug refrigerator and remove rear panel inside freezer compartment. Look to see if ice has covered evaporator coils. If so defrost them with a hair dryer and look over the defrost elements to make sure they appear good without burns or cracks. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling after storm

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

I have cleaned the coils this morning, but the refrigerator section does not appear to cool. The freezer seems fine. This is model eti18PKXGWI ser no. 042 9086 eemingly c. 10 years old.

Your freezer fan has probably quit. On most refrigerators the freezer is the only compartment actually cooled by the compressor and coils. The refrigerator compartment is feed cold air from the freezer compartment by way of a small fan. If you have you refrigerator turned all the way up and the door open you should here the fan running and be able to feel air moving somewere in the refrigerator compartment.

Refrigerator/Freezer will not freeze

your freezer cools the refrigerator side, check the overload relay on the compressor if that is okay check that the compressor is running, if it is not then you need a new one probably not worth repairing unless it is under some warranty.

I have a ed5fhgxkq00 side by side Whirlpool refridgerator that stopped cooling. It worked fine up until last night when we noticed that the ice was melting. Now it gets a little cool but not cool enough....

If the compressor has a fan next to it, be sure it is running. if the relay is clicking every few minutes it may need to be replced. contact local parts distributor.
