Maintenance reset counter has not reset after fitting maintenance kit

Perform the Reset Life Counters utility as follows:
1. In the Service Utilities submenu, scroll to Reset Life Counters and press OK .
2. Select Reset Maintenance Kit usage to reset the Life Counter for all parts included in a
Preventative Maintenance Kit (PMK).
You can choose from the following Preventive Maintenance Kits:
? Preventive Maintenance Kit 1 (PMK1). See Preventive Maintenance Kit #1 for 44-in models
(CH538-67024) on page 406 .
? Preventive Maintenance Kit 2 (PMK2). See Preventive Maintenance Kit #2 (CH538-67040)
on page 407 .
NOTE: For more information about the counters that are reset, See Preventive Maintenance
on page 400 .
It is also advisable to check the status of the Life Counters related to the other Preventive
Maintenance Kits to avoid multiple trips to the customer.
3. Select Reset usage counters to reset the Life Counter of a single part.

(PM counter resets automatically after the user replaces the fusing unit.)

This setting is for machines where the service technician has responsibility for servicing the machine.
The service technician must reset the PM counter after completing machine maintenance.

To reset the maintenance page counter to zero:
1. Touch Reset Maintenance Counter from the Configuration Menu.
2. Reset Maintenance Counter appears in the header.
3. Touch 100K Kit or 600K Kit. Yes and No appear in a menu.
4. To cancel the reset operation, touch Back or No. All other button presses are ignored.
5. To initiate the reset operation, touch Yes.

kit is installed.
To view the Maintenance Page Count:
1. Select Maintenance Count Value from the diagnostic menu.
2. Press Return to go to the previous menu.
To reset the Maintenance Page Count to zero:
1. Select Reset Maintenance Count. Pressing Select causes the
maintenance page counter to reset to zero.
- Reset Maintenance Count Saved displays momentarily.
When the reset operation is complete, the menu returns to
the Printer Setup Reset Maintenance Count screen.

This counter is reset by the servicer after a 80 Scheduled Maintenance message displays
(300K copies) and a maintenance kit is installed.
To view the maintenance page count:
1. Select Maintenance Count Value from the Configuration menu.
2. Press Return to go to the previous menu.
To reset the maintenance page count to zero:
1. Select Reset Maintenance Count from the Configuration menu.
2. Pressing Select resets the maintenance page counter to zero.
Reset Maintenance Count Saved displays momentarily. When the reset operation is complete,
the menu returns to the Printer Setup Reset Maintenance Count screen.

Reset the maintenance-kit counter 1. Turn the product power off and then on. 2. When XXX MB appears on the control-panel display, press and hold down the OK button until all three control-panel lights flash once, and then stay on. This might take up to 10 seconds. 3. Release the OK button and press the up arrow to scroll to NEW MAINTENANCE KIT. 4. Press OK to reset the maintenance-kit counter.

To reset the maintenance-kit counter
1 Turn the MFP off and then on.
2 When the memory count appears on the control-panel display, press and hold 6 until all three
LEDs flash once and then stay on. (This might take up to 20 seconds.)
3 Release 6 and then press 3.
4 Press 6 to select NEW MAINTENANCE KIT.
5 The MFP completes its initialization sequence. The maintenance-kit counter is automatically reset.

The maint kit resets the counter when it is installed. You may have gotten a bad maint kit or the black plasstic part that the roller slides into is bad. That is where the connection is to reset the counter.

Pretty easy, the maintenance kit consists of a transfer roller (black roller that sits underneath toner cartridge), charge roller (sits above toner cartridge), fuser (rear of printer behind two plastic covers), and paper feed rollers. The maintenance kit should have details with diagrams.

To reset
To reset the Maintenance counter, turn off the printer.
Press and hold both Select & Return while powering on the printer.
Hold until display reads 'Performing Self Test" then let go of the buttons.
If the printer displays "80 Maintenance Due" Press the Go Key.
Press the right Menu Key and scroll to Reset Maintenance Counter.
Press the Select Key. Press the Select Key again to reset the counter.
When the reset operation is complete, press the right Menu key to exit Configuration Menu and press Select.
Printer will save the settings, IPL and come back to Ready.

I think the maintanance kit runs out based on time and usage, which ever comes first, roll back your printers clock a few months or more and see if that fix's the problem.
