When I play a movie the video will stick and then get all pixelated and then quit playing all together. It seems that if I don't use the DVD drive for a while I might be able to watch a 30 min show before it starts up again. The Driver is the most current available according to Toshiba. What do I do?
Thanks, I went to Toshiba's website and found the most recent driver and reinstalled it. Still didn't fix my problem. Thanks, I went to Toshiba's website and found the most recent driver and reinstalled it. Still didn't fix my problem.

If you ripped an entire DVD, then you should be able to point VLC to the root folder containing the VIDEO_TS folder and it should start playing your ripped DVD from its menu system just like if you were watching it on your television.
Otherwise, you will have to create a playlist to play files in order.
This is not an issue with the drive. The drive is not what tells your pc to play movies automatically. Anyhow, I don't know what version of windows you are using, but if you click start-help and then type in 'auto play' it will show you how to change the settings so movies will play automatically. Also, if you don't have it already, install VLC media player.....it plays pretty much any video files.
Well if the regular dvd's dont work.. I would recommend you to buy
Blu-Ray movies instead.. PS3 is the best known blu-ray player. buy at least one blu-ray movie and try that.
the PlayStation 3 can read just about any usb memory stick and play can movies from them, since a usb's bandwidth is significantly lower then the ps3 hard drive it's recommend to copy the movie to the ps3's hard drive.
also it matters how the movie was converted. some converted movies wont play on the ps3 no matter what codec your using to encode the movie with.
The best way to play burned movies is to copy them onto a memory stick or external hard drive then copy them onto the ps3 i use this method and find the movies play in much higher quality than dvd-r or+r or whatever discs you use
Hello Andrew, Even though the website claims Archos can play videos of DVD resolution it cannot play videos of such big resolution 800 x 480..To
display the full DVD resolution, you would either
have to buy the HD add-on plugin (presumably for $20 as it is not
available yet), which allows resolution higher than 720x480, or to buy
the MPEG2 plugin, which allows you to play a raw DVD VOB file...So also
it plays videos of Square pixels,So try to reduce a bit of resolution
to 720x480....!!!!...Better Reduce the Resolution of the video to 740 x 480 and
the bit rate while Converting, so Your Archos can play the MOvie
Completely and you can watch it...Also I hope the Embeded Subtitles in
the movie(MP4) doesnt work for which you have to get a seperated
Plug-in i guess...Thank you!!!...
What DVD playback program are you using? Intervideo WinDVD is the best for-pay one, but you might look into Media Player Classic and VLC Media Player. Also, search google for K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and install it. It has the codecs required to play most movie formats. This could just be an issue of a broken codec. I would also recommend updating your video drivers (the screen that changes the color bit depth should tell you what kind of video adapter your laptop has; go to the manufacturer's website and get the latest driver).
Have you tried viewing in a different software, as i found that acer use a form of Power DVD as their standard movie player which comes installed with the system.
Try viewing in media player for example.
