Will playstation 3 play blu ray movies off usb memory stick? all other movies worked but blu ray one didn't work.

MP4 or AVI files will definitely work but make sure your USB memory is formatted in FAT32.

Well if the regular dvd's dont work.. I would recommend you to buy Blu-Ray movies instead.. PS3 is the best known blu-ray player. buy at least one blu-ray movie and try that.

Yes it does have wireless internet. Go to the beginning of the cross bar menu, where system update is. and scroll down, you will see network options.

If a Blu-ray Disc movie is not loading properly or is freezing on a title screen, this may be caused by the PLAYSTATION 3 attempting to download BD-Live content from congested movie studio servers. Go to Settings icon (Settings) > Video Settings icon (Video Settings) > [BD Internet Connection], select "Confirm". Then reload the Blu-ray movie and the PLAYSTATION 3 will prompt you if you wish to allow the disc to access BD-Live content. Choose to not access BD-Live content to see if the movie will now load. For some reason you seem to think this is a PS3 problem. Why do you think this is a PS3 problem? If you can play PS3 games, then I will say it is not a PS3 problem, as all PS3 games are on Blu-ray, and if you were having problems playing PS3 games, then that could account for the movie not working.

Since only the movie isn't working, I am going to say you have a defective Blu-ray disc. Did you just buy this movie, or have you viewed it before using the PS3? If you have never viewed it on the PS3, then the problem lies in the disc, and you need to take it back and have it exchanged.

If you have played the disc in the PS3 before (the PS3 you are having a problem with, not a different PS3 or Blu-ray player), or you still think it is a PS3 problem, then use the "Disc Troubleshooting" support page. Normally, if a Blu-ray movie will not play, it won't play at all, and it is because the Blu-ray laser has gone out. It sounds to me that the disc is bad, but this is only going on the information you have supplied.

thats becouse it a BLU-RAY it is diffrent i figured out the hrd way 2 :P

As long as the movies and games are the actual things and not some burnt rip-off discs you'll be fine. The movie companies do this so their stuff isn't copied illegally.

You just need to get the update, through it on a usb stick and update your ps3. Here is a link to the update and instructions. Hope it helps.

If i was you i wouden update. the latest update sony have provided is causing alot of problems, such as not being able to read blue-ray movies and games. (3.00/3.01)

I know you dont see it this way, but i acaully see you as a very lucky person that you havent updated your machine yet, my ps3 dont work anymore after i updated, or it does work, but it just cant read any blueray games or movies.

But if you have a ps3 slim you probaly wont have this problem, its more older models that suffer under this bug. :(

i dont know what your current firmware is, but if its way below 2.80, then your still in the safe zone, cuz if you own a usb memory stick you can transfer the 2.80 update to ( USB-ROOT\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP ) and then unplug it from your computer and insert it into your ps3 and then try the update from local storeage.

Certainlyit's a problem with your blu-ray reader and, if it'snotcoveredby warranty, unfortunatelly you will need to buy a new one(youcan findcheap ones in eBay =])
Please, try the following:

• Reupdating your system firmware via USB Device (download the update from Playstation Website)
• Restoring your system (don't forget to backup all your important files !!)

if this doesn't work ,contactSony support centre for possible hardware issues checking.

At this time the region lock on ps3 only includes DVD and ps1-2 titles. Although some games will have the 80028F10 error. Most ps3 and blue ray will play without problems, my only suggestion being that if you are in the US, make sure you get a US ps3.
