GE Sensor Microwave JES1855 died

I have a GE Sensor Microwave JES1855 and today after pressing the "Express 1" button, there was a slight "pop" sound and the microwave went dead. We unplugged and and plugged it back in, but the display is blank and nothing works. What could be the problem? We checked the electrical outlet, and it's working fine. It's definitely the microwave.

Mine went dead after about 6 months. I had problems with my breakers and I found out that it was the microwave that blew all of them. I also found out that this perticular microwave is a fire hazard and should be recalled. It has caused me alot of headache. The breakers in my house are brand new and they are put out by GE also. It caused me to loose the food in my freezer, I did not know my freezer had lost power. It would cause my entire lights to go off and then they would come back on. I have checked around and I found out that the power cord on the back of the unit is very loose. I had a person to come in and look at it, he thinks its the power cord.

You probably just have a bad humidity sensor (aka gas sensor). Also be sure the internal cooling fan is running. That's critical.
We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are working.
To access and replace the sensor, you may need to remove the oven from the wall.
If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.
You can find handy exploded views and order parts by model number here.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

I have a GE sensor microwave oven. Tried to heat food and sensor eror came on. Everything is running even the timer but no sound but the timer is running. Cant this be reset pls help

HELLO.

This is the solution to reset your microwave.

1 Pressing the clock button will display the time. You can also use this to know what time it is while cooking.

1. Set the clock by pressing the "Clock" button.

2. Turning the dial on the GE sensor microwave oven will display the hour of the day. Once you have found the correct hour, press the dial in.

3. Again, turn the dial to set the minutes of the day. When this is completed, you will need to press the dial in again on the GE sensor microwave oven.

4. When the time and minutes are set, turn the dial again for a.m. or p.m. Then you will need to press the dial in to save the settings.

5. Press the "Start" button to allow the clock to begin on the GE sensor microwave oven.

Thanks.

It is supposed to be when it cooks. If not, it may be burned out.

If that's the case, one would have to remove the cover to get to it.

1800 XL JVM1860BD - won't work

It sounds like your controller may be failing. Or it could be an electrical line problem. Any other electrical itmes giving you trouble? Has anyone measured the voltage level of your power line? It should be around 110-125 volts AC. If it's significantly lower or higher, you may have a bad connection in your breaker panel or in the wiring leading to the home.

GE microwave unresponsive!

There shoudl be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) inside the oven. The most common reasons for this are the magnetron thermal cutout and the fuse. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
