Try resetting it with the reset button on the side of the player. You need to use a pin to push it. If it resets successfully use the players utility to reset and check it.

If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause." Q. How to reset Zen v + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22T_gkkZjmM&feature=related
Hello Karim... If you had the Zen Touch 20 Gb like I just have right now, try to reset it. Here's how: Set the POWER/ LOCK SWITCH to the left, so the player is locked (make sure it was on). You can see a small hole in the leftmost side, insert a hair pin or a thin wire to the slot and push gently (be sure it is the hole in the left side, the hole in the right is the microphone). After you'd done that, it would reset. Turn it on again, and hope that solve your problem.
Another thing to do is to connect your player to a computer and browse the file. Don't do anything, just open browse the files. Then after awhile, plug it off from the computer... I haven't tried this, but this one is posted on one of the thread, and solved the unresponsive touch pad or keys.
Have you tried resetting it? Right beneath the lock swithc is a small hole. Inside it is the reset button. Try using a needle or hair-pin to reset it and see what happens, when mine had a freezing problem a few months ago that fixed it straight away..
Thank you very much. Now my zen is working again after I press the reset bottom.
